"You gotta let me say hello to some people. Baghdad Jamie who is over serving in Iraq, huge Red Sox Fan Sons of Sam Horn loyal followers and his wife. Second World Series. Second time he's been in Iraq and we won it. We're thinking about you..."
Schilling
WOW!! I don't even know what to say.
Say thanks to your wife, J, then get back for opening day.

Fantastic picture of Paps on the ESPN main page right now.
Indeed.
But is any picture of Paps not fantastic?

This FOX webcast is hilarious.
Did they just ask John Henry if he preferred Lowell or ARod at 3rd base???

Did they just ask John Henry if he preferred Lowell or ARod at 3rd base???
To which he responded "Oh come on that isn't fair"
Dougie is on now..
Someone in the crowd shouted DOUGIES GOING DEEP TONIGHT
I love this.

HR just said Dougie could start for a lot of other clubs!!!
There's plenty of independant leagues that would take him.

Time to wake up this sleeping town. And eat some fucking celebration food.
Tonight I will say my prayers to Terry Francona, Mike Lowell, and Jacoby Ellsbury's eyebrows.
Even though I can't be in Boston now or for the parade, it still doesn't get any better than this. I feel truly validated as a fan having watched all these games after midnight, even if I can't celebrate with anyone.
This is Boston's decade. Or maybe century. Or eon.

Well, I don't know about you guys but I enjoyed this FOX part of the coverage.
Yes--quite humorous. I especially liked their ribbing of Mirabelli (would he really start on another team) and Cora (future manager). They were also right on with A-Rod's trying to get attention.
Edit: Thanks, Jnai!

Exactly. 04 was the Sox getting over the hump. This year is the start of the dynasty.
...
I'd say our dynasty started in '03 - we just didn't know it until now
---
I am still smiling ear to ear. I could watch Papelbon deliver that pitch over and over.
You know what's great? All next year, every time you go to MLB.tv to watch a game or catch some highlights, the first thing you'll see is the clip of Papelbon striking out Smith and then leaping off the mound in their preview pane

Thanks to SOSH for opening up the lurker boards this year and making great discussion and game threading available to all.
I was able to enjoy every moment of the playoffs with my family, which made it just as special as 2004 for me. The Sox' young talent is immense, and I am already looking forward to next year.
I feel fully balanced - like the winning Sox are no longer a fluke. The final outs of '07 and '04 share space in my memory with Bucky Dent's homer, Buckner's grounder, and Aaron Boone's homer.
It has been great to share the time between the games with my second family on these boards, and I hope they stay open during the offseason.

Thank you to SOSH for keeping the board alive for the playoffs.
I fell asleep for the last 2 games, but it was good to wakeup to see such a positive result.
How many days until pitchers and catchers?

Not to go all computer here, but Dent, Buckner and Boone are just about swapped out of my cache memory, only returning when Fox or ESPN has to put them on TV to try to revive something they used to call a curse?Congratulations to the Red Sox.

The Sox were 9-2 in Jon Lester's 11 starts this year, and 18-8 for his 26 career starts. I see no reason for the trend to change. I feel good about tonight. Lester is a winner. We shall win!
10-2

My girlfriend and I decided to get married next October 11. I said, ok, but the honeymoon waits til November. She's a Sox/baseball fan through me only -- a damn quick study, though -- so I was surprised at her enthusiasm when she said, "of course we're not honeymoonin' in October!" (Doesn't hurt that we're honeymoonin' in the Southern Hemisphere -- weather!!)
You folks have been awesome to watch the games with!! Thanks ... for everything.
While I'm not one to typically jump on Tito for every move I think I might do differently, if I happen to start bitching about some move Tito makes next year that seems to be based on sentiment or some such, or when he plays his "Sunday lineup," I ask you all to please remind me of how fukken heartlessly awesome he is in the post-season.
And, finally -- to the Mods/Geeks/People who run SoSH: Wow! Kick-ass job keeping this board up through all the craziness of this post-season. My donation is coming soon.
