Headed up to Boston for the weekend/Pats game, but had to get the 38th President I am unoriginal and unfunny. Please put me out of my misery going....if they win two, I'll be the guy in the middle of Kenmore Square with the quarter barrel strapped to my back drinking straight out of the tap (which was my promise in 1988 and 1990 when I lived there).

It is a mistake to try to look too far ahead. The chain of destiny can only be grasped one link at a time.
He also enjoyed himself along the way, and took pleasure in good company. Churchill knew how to recognize and avoid the other kind. His assessment of one killjoy:
He has all the virtues I dislike and none of the vices I admire.

So off to walk the dog and then to bed. I know for most of you the next five and a half hours will drag until game time, but for me the time will fly by as I have sweet dreams of a huge victory in game 3.
See you at 2 am!
Go Sox!

Tonight, on the heels of teammate and countryman Hideki Okajima's historic appearance, Daisuke Matsuzaka will make the first start by a Japanese player in World Series history - make it count Dice-K!

Please win tonight for my sister's birthday. Three years ago, you were VERY generous, and this year all she asks for her birthday is a Game 3 Sox victory. Surely you can manage that.
Oh, and two words: RUN SUPPORT. Dice-K will dominate, I will drink, Rockies will die.

Dear Lurker Nation:
I got invited to a Halloween party tonight, at which I will make a brief appearance and then LEAVE. My five-year-old and I have a date to pull out the sofa bed and watch the game. Once he falls asleep, I'll grab one of the Sapporos I bought for the occasion and head downstairs to chill with y'all.

That and Manny playing left I just don't think are going to be much of an issue. (Youkilis sitting is, of course). I think positioning -- not playing too deep in the outfield -- will be more important than either's defensive abilities.
The point is that the Red Sox are the better team. Continue outpitching, taking good approaches at the plate, and we can win these games on the moon.
In game 1 it was the Rockies' streak we ended. In game 2 it was any lingering doubts about Schilling's ability. This game is about erasing their hyped-up so-called home field advantage.
Oh, and those fucking towels.
WIN so guests in Rockies fans' homes don't have to wipe their assy hands on their pants.

I love how in every interleague game in a National League park, and especially in 2004 and again now, Ortiz playing first is this huge issue, everyone just assuming he sucks. Every time I watch him in these games he has been solid. I know he's got bad knees, but if he's legging out those doubles he can certainly play first a couple of games.

It's been 3 years, but Ortiz in the field was a non factor in St Louis. It's my recollection he made a few nice plays. I have seen him this year in person in San Deigo and Arizona and he was solid at first.
It's going to hurt not having the gold glover at first ( especially the Lugo horror show on about 25% of his throws), but I think Papi is up to it.
You just can't take his bat out of the line up. He is too much of a disruptor and OB machine. Not to mention his clucth, power, and protecting Manny.
Youks coming off the bench as a pinch hitter is tasty, and he'll be in late protecting the lead.
As usual, Francona has made the right decision. It's a tough choice, but the only one.
I watched Dice K for his entire batting practice session in Arizona this year.
I'm calling it now: Dice K hits one out tonight!
Sox Win!
Edit: just noticed there is a thread devoted to the Dice K hitting prowess!
Cool.

Us there is a necesity. which it will win. We the RED SOX which it shakes horror. The history is our thing. We will write!
Daylight savings just fucked me over again... 3 hours difference. Good for me, I slept the whole afternoon through, without knowing I would need it now more than ever.
I don't get my taco. But I'm ready.

A very nice attempt. Tonight, I will be watching with Teddy Ballgame (Pit Bull), Thumper (Akita/Sharpei), Fenway and Pesky (black cat litter mates form the rescue), and The Splendid Splinter (tabby). Out back in the equestrian section of The Lucky Ranch is The Kid (3 year old Quarter Horse). Animal I am unoriginal and unfunny. Please put me out of my misery rules! On Sept. 21 we finally gave in to the kids and got them a puppy. The puppy's name is Fenway. One of my kids was pushing to name the dog "Coco" in light of its chocolate brown color, but we explained to him that naming him Coco would be cruel since the dog would think we were screaming at him during Coco's at bats. On the day we got Fenway, Beckett and the Red Sox beat the DRays and Kazmir 8-1. That, coupled with the MFY loss to Toronto that night, increased the Sox lead to 2 1/2 games in the division. Since Fenway has been in the family, good things have continued to happen to the Sox. Fenway does his business in a mulch bed that we have named "Yankee Stadium". That mulch bed was temporarily renamed "the Jake" for 8 days this month. Now, symbolically, there is a crushed Coors can lying in the mulch. Fenway assures me that the Sox, like him, will crap on the Rockies tonight.
BTW - before you think otherwise, my wife agrees with all of you that I'm nuts.

I guess we have a ways to go with the pets. I have a nice I am unoriginal and unfunny. Please put me out of my misery picture of a Fenway load on the Coors can -- my wife knows I am nuts for arranging and taking that picture -- but I haven't yet figured out how to upload a picture. I'll work on that.

Or, we are vividly shown why Dice-Ks opposing hitters hit nearly 90 points higher after he throws 45 pitches. Ahhhh, the angst of a RedSox fan....that warm blanket of paranoia for the past four score nine years.Tonight, Dice K shows us all why Epstein is smarter-than-your-average GM.
Come on Daisuke - get it done.
