This is, by the way, the right move. Wake today. If it works, Beckett tmrw. If we lose today, tmrw is almost pointless. If Beckett were to win today, we wold have nobody to pitch tmrw, except, I guess, Wakefield. The ancient history of his success against NY on a different team, with a manager who liked to pretend it was 1958, ought not to be a factor.

Looking for reasons for hope, there is, at least, this: http://www.baseball-...200607310.shtml . This was a few weeks before our 2006 free fall began.

How about Wily Mo Pena w/ 3 hits and 3 runs batted in? Who is this guy?

First of all, I don't like P-Did's A-Rod-esque swap at the glove.

Second of all, holy shit, these Injuns are fired up!

Hard to work the count against Byrd, he consistently throws strikes.

Bird throws strikes, he went 45 innings this year without a walk,
you have to hit him.

If Coco doesn't get a hit tonight, Theo and Crew better explain the non-use of Ellsbury.

You can work the count by fouling balls off too, you know. And I hardly think his stuff is the "swing and miss" kind.

What's with the weird camera when they go in close on the pitcher?

There is no such thing as a Fake Edit, I am just an idiot who can't figure out how to put a secondary thought into my posts without this crutch: Shit, we do not look good at all. Let's hope Wake's knuckle flutters like a leaf in the wind.

The Sox are swinging aggressively, but Byrd is not pounding the zone, he's nibbling. Adjustment bears watching.

Byrd just stopped the forward motion of the baseball and stared again. That K pitch should have been called a ball before it got to the plate.

I doubt that the Fox execs do. Ratings for a Cleveland/Colorado series? Not impressive.

Byrd's strategy is pretty much throw strikes and let the team catch the ball.

Usually pretty effective against the Sox.

We'll need to hit some homers, no walks tonight.

Go Timmy, you need to be at least decent tonight.
