I have no idea who our starter is going to be, so I can't post that in the thread title. It might be Wakefield. It might be Beckett. It might be Francona. It might be Lester. I have no idea who their starter is going to be, so I can't post that in the thread title. It might be the Byrd. It might be Sabathia. Really. I have no idea.

Officially, it is announced as:
WAKEFIELD v. BYRD.

Unofficially, it is announced as:
WINNERS v. LOSERS.

Notice that cleverly I have aligned our starting pitchers with the "WINNERS" column, and theirs with the "LOSERS" column. This was not by mistake. It was by design.

This thread will follow some very serious code of conduct policies:
a) No calling for Pedroia to be benched, people did that in April and we learned from our mistakes.
b) Shots will be taken upon any hit from batters 6-9 in the lineup.
c) Winning will be followed by copious posts of Dirty Water pictures.
d) Pregnant women do not serve as I am unoriginal and unfunny. Please put me out of my misery*.

WIN

Relevant Dislcaimer Information:
*Pictures of Pregnant women. Pregnant women are free to browse this thread ad lib., though their status as I am unoriginal and unfunny. Please put me out of my misery conferring has not been as yet established.

I'm on the pro side of Wake pitching, because we'll need someone other than Josh to get wins.

How about a picture of a jackalope top get things going.

Dave Coulier had an awesome jackalope impression back in the day.

RAIN DANCE BABY! RAIN, BITCH, RAIN! PLEASE!

As my contribution to the rain dance preliminaries, here is a NE radar/satellite animation. As of Monday 10:30pm PDT, high pressure over Ontario is deflecting the low-pressure center to the west of Lake Erie, but if it starts looking damp, we move on to thunder-disco and lightning-boogie. For now, bring on a tropical rainstorm lambada:

Yeah, the hat sucks. The logo doesn't look like it is incorporated into the design.

Plus there's the whole lack of Red Stockings and all.

No Dylan, Band, Flying Lizards, Lene Lovich, Phil Collins, or Neil Young lyrics this morning.

Keep it simple--I got nothin'--just an appeal to a Higher Power!

Fight the good fight.

JUST WIN.

Runs should be scored off of Byrd like voting in Chicago - early and often.

1999 ALDS - Game 1 was a close Indians win(3-2). Game 2 was an Indians blowout win (11-1). Game 3 was a decent Red Sox win (9-3). Game 4 was a complete blowout Red Sox win (23-7). Game 5 was a respectable Red Sox win (12-8).

2007 ALCS - Game 1 was a respectable Red Sox win. Game 2 was a blowout Indians win. Game 3 was a close Indians win.

Looks like it is time for a complete Red Sox blowout win, along with a close Red Sox win to mirror 1999.

Can the Sox do it? HELL YES THEY CAN!

Outside my office window, streams of geese in v-shaped flocks having been flying south all morning. Winter is coming. I'm not ready for this to be over. And you know what? It isn't over. Far from it in fact.

I feel like Sybil, vacillating unpredictably between optimism, pessimism, not giving a shit, hating baseball, loving baseball, etc. But right now, my mood is thus: so, we lost. Losing two in a row is bad, but at least it assures that we will win the pennant at home.

I'll see y'all tonight.

Things that Paul Byrd should not be confused with:

Kick-ass birds like eagles, hawks or any other bad-ass raptors or any bird that can reach speeds of over 80 MPH

Posted Image

Charlie "Bird" Parker - Paul Byrd should not be considered a virtuoso in any sense, although what happens to Byrd tonight may be similar to the time Bird got elctroshock therapy at Bellevue, or the time he died as a result of complications from longtime heroin abuse

Posted Image

Larry Bird - I think this goes without saying.
Posted Image

The Yardbirds - Launching pad for the careers of Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page. Paul Byrd would have to have replicated Greg Maddux's years with the Cubs and then given birth to Walter Johnson, Roger Clemens and Pedro Martinez to be duplicate that.

While watching the game last night, I couldn't help but notice: When did Cleveland turn into Anahiem? Between the scoreboard begging the fans to "make some noise", the homo hankies, and that asshole with the fucking drum, I thought I was watching a game from the Big A. Seriously, Cleveland, you are embarassing yourselves. You're supposed to be a charter member of the American League, act like one.

In other news, WIN!

I didn't want to come in here. But it is clear that I am unoriginal and unfunny. Please put me out of my misery needs to be created. So, with a deferential nod to Jose... St. Timmy's Day.

If we are mark'd to lose, we are enough
To do our Nation loss; and if to win,
The fewer fans, the greater share of honour.
Doug's Belly! I pray thee, wish not one fans of a lessor stature than I more.
By Ted's frozen head, I care not who is on the wagon,
It yearns me not if pussy fans my colors wear;
Such outward things bother me not:
But if it be a sin to covet victory,
I am the most offending poster
In this Sandbox of Sox

No, faith, my bro's, wish not a Youk liner in the gap:
Nor a Eric Gagne change-up that changed
Nor a Dice-K 20k memory
By Youk's Bitter Beer Face! I would not lose so great an honour
As this comeback shall give to me
For the best hope I have. O, do not wish one more!
Rather proclaim it, Nation, through my post,
That he who hath no stomach to this fight,
Let him depart; his passport shall be made
And let him return when Beckett is on the mound
Or Papelbon glares in
Or David twirls the bat
Or Manny raises his arms

We would not cheer in that man's company
That fears his fellowship to die with us.
Today is St. Timmy's Day
They call it bosses Day
And A Wake shall boss over them all
For who could seek promotion
Who could not spell Johnny Peralta?
On this day was Suzanne Somers born
On this day Borowski's unmastered fat thighs shall quake with fear
For I do here proclaim it
Today is St. Timmy's Day

He that outlives this day, and comes safe home,
Will stand a tip-toe when the Sox Classic plays,
And rouse him at the remembered victory.
He that shall see Sox victory today, and see old age,
Will yearly on the date feast his neighbours,
And say 'To-morrow is October 16th:'
Old men forget: yea all July and August be forgot,
But he'll remember with advantages
What feats Coco of Crisp did that day:
Then shall their names.
(Familiar as Baylor, and Boggs, and Greenwell)
St Timmy the Starter, Pedroia, and swift Jacoby,
Tiny Lugo, Steady Lowell, and unexpected Dougie,
Even JD the Silent
Be in their frosty beers freshly remember'd.
This story shall the good man teach his son;
And teach him to drink to the deeds of that day
And St. Timmy's Day shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remember'd;
And we in it shall remember

We few, we happy few, we band of Sandboxers;
For he to-day that posts with me today
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so much a jackass,
Who thinks Santana can be acquired for naught
This game shall certify his position:
And cowards in New York and Anaheim now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That posted with us upon St. Timmy's day.

You can blame the Indians fan for jinxing you by posting Red Sox AL Champions merchandies when you're down 2-1 and are on your way to losing the series.
