It’s time for more Cliché I am unoriginal and unfunny. Please put me out of my misery. You've heard it all before. Honestly I didn’t think anybody could top Mr. Negative yesterday. He nailed it. He hit it out of the park. He gawn.

But patman's radio caller poses some stiff competition: Well, I just wanted to say, I'm just so proud of these boys. They played their hearts out this weekend and I'm just so proud of them. They play the game the right way and it's just so great to see them playing so hard and I'm just so proud of them.

Happy Birthdays to Mandurro and Stanleysteemer!
Thanks to Jeff van Gully and JayeBrady for rainbows and sunset.
The rest I'll keep simple:

WIN

Mr Negative used a lot of the good ones, but here goes:

You can't steal first base, so the Sox are going to have to step it up and get to LA's pitching early and often. Whether they play long ball or small ball, Sox batters are going to have to be patient at the plate, wait for their pitch, and try to get good wood on the ball when they take their cuts to be a tough out. Timely hitting will drive in runs, so they'll need to stay focused in the clutch to come up big. Lay off balls in the dirt and don't chase the high cheese. Protect the plate with two strikes and just try to make contact. A walk's as good as a hit, so don't swing at ball four.

They need to be smart on the bases and not run into outs, but still be aggressive on the base paths to keep the angels off balance. Time the pitcher just right when leaning, and don't get caught napping on the pick off move. First to third on anything that drops in, and wave 'em around third on wall balls to center or anything that's trouble in the gaps.

They'll have to be on top of their game in the field. Get a good jump on the ball, track it down and haul it in - whether it's a snowcone, shoestring or basket catch. Play the caroms perfectly and get the ball in quickly to try and hold the runner. Around the horn on the DP, they'll need to have a quick release with the transfer to beat the runner with the throw.

Dice-K is gonna have to bring his best stuff when he takes the mound. He needs to get ahead of the hitters, challenge them with his hard stuff, and come inside once in a while to keep the hitters honest. He doesn't want to hurt himself with base on balls, so he needs to stay around the plate and remember that the guys behind him will do their best to bail him out if runners get on. If he does get into trouble, he'll just have to bear down and pitch his way out of the jam to avoid the big inning. If he wears down, or it's not his night, we've got good arms in the pen to come in and close this thing out.

There's still a lot of baseball left to be played, so we've gotta keep our eyes on the prize and
WIN!

Pedroia must be hurt. There is no possible explanation as to why Alex Cora should be allowed to bat in these playoffs. He is an automatic out. What a terrible move by Francona.

I'd love to see someone try and justify this move by throwing out random stats that say Cora hits __ against Escobar or Pedroia hit __ against Escobar three months ago in a game. This is October and you put your best players on the field. Making the A.L Rookie of the Year sit on the bench in a crucial Game 2 while that piece of shit Cora gets 4 at-bats is disgusting. I'd love to see this team go up 2-0 but part of me would love nothing more then for this move to bite Francona in the ass. God damn stupid putting that pathetic piece of shit anywhere near an October lineup.

I agree 110%! He is just not a winner.

As for the rest of those guys, well, they just need to wait for their pitch, and hopefully get some good wood on it and just be happy to help the team.

Bull Durham I am unoriginal and unfunny. Please put me out of my misery is powerful I am unoriginal and unfunny. Please put me out of my misery. Advice from Crash:

'So relax! Let's have some fun out here! This game's fun, OK? Fun goddamnit. And don't hold the ball so hard, OK? It's an egg. Hold it like an egg.'

'Your shower shoes have fungus on them. You'll never make it to the bigs with fungus on your shower shoes. Think classy, you'll be classy. If you win 20 in the show, you can let the fungus grow back and the press'll think you're colorful. Until you win 20 in the show, however, it means you are a slob. ''

...when you get in a fight with a drunk you don't hit him with your pitching hand. God, I can't keep giving you these free lessons so quit screwin' around and help me up. '

'You just got lesson number one: don't think; it can only hurt the ball club. '

'You got a gift. When you were a baby, the Gods reached down and turned your right arm into a thunderbolt. You got a Hall-of-Fame arm, but you're pissing it away. '

'Crash Davis: It's time to work on your interviews.
Ebby Calvin LaLoosh: My interviews? What do I gotta do?
Crash Davis: You're gonna have to learn your clichés. You're gonna have to study them, you're gonna have to know them. They're your friends. Write this down: "We gotta play it one day at a time."

Witness Protection Program?

we need some LOTR's I am unoriginal and unfunny. Please put me out of my misery

At that sound the bent shape of Tito sprang suddenly erect. Tall and proud he seemed again; and rising in his his stirrups he cried in a loud voice, more clear than any there had ever heard a mortal man achieve before:

Arise, arise, Red Sox
Fell deeds awake: fire and slaughter!
pitchers shall be shaken, bats be splintered,
A bat-day, a red day, ere the sun rises!
Ride now, ride now! Ride to Fenway!

With that he seized a great horn from Pesky his banner-bearer, and he blew such a blast upon it that it burst asunder. And straightaway all the horns in the host were lifted up in music, of water so filthy and dirty, in that hour was like a storm upon the plain and a thunder in the mountains.

Ride now, ride now! Ride to Fenway!

Suddenly Tito cried to Snowmane and the horse sprang away. Behind him his banner blew in the wind, white horse upon a field of green, but he outpaced it. After him thundered the knights of his house, but he was ever before them. Dice K rode there, the white horsetail on his helm floating in this speed, and the front of the first inning roared like a breaker foaming to the shore, but Tito could not be overtaken. Fey he seemed, or the battle-fury of his fathers ran like new fire in his veins, and he was borne up on Snowmane like a god of old, even as Oromë the Great in the battle of the Valar when the world was young. His golden shield was uncovered, and lo! it shone like an image of the Sun, and the grass flamed into green about the white feet of his steed. For morning came, morning and a wind from the sea; and darkness was removed, and the host of Mordor wailed, and terror took them, and they fled, and died, and the hoofs of wrath rode over them. And then all the host of the Red Sox burst into song, and they sang as they hit for the joy of battle was on them, and the sound of their singing that was fair and terrible came even to the City.

For Bull Durham I am unoriginal and unfunny. Please put me out of my misery, I prefer Annie:

"I believe in the Church of Baseball. . . . I've tried 'em all, I really have, and the only church that truly feeds the soul, day in, day out, is the Church of Baseball."

"Walt Whitman once said, 'I see great things in baseball. It's our game, the American game. It will repair our losses and be a blessing to us.' You could look it up."

And my all time favorite:
"Do you think Dwight Gooden makes love with his socks on?"

Tonight, I will be soaking in the most excellent vibes of Government Mule. My sister will text me updates, and I will probably get home in time for the last inning or two (thank you, late start time!).

So, in the meantime, let me leave you with this parting wisdom: If the Red Sox can score more runs than the other team, they will prevail.

Thank you, Jackie Chan, for reminding us all just how essential genuine tackle twill is. I will never settle for anything less.

Daisuke pitched very well in this uniform on June 22: 6 innings of five-hit one-run goodness - after a 32 pitch first inning, he settled down, struck out 9, and the 2 runs the Sox scored in the 4th held up for the win.

Beckett and Matsuzaka are huge big game pitchers. Everyone remembers Dice-K winning the World Baseball Classic, but don't forget his domination in the 2004 Olympics in Greece. In August 2004 (with possible Sox third baseman/OF Kosuke Fukudome at his side), Dice-K threw 8 innings of four-hit shutout goodness against Cuba (the gold medal team), leading Japan to an 8-3 victory. His coach after the game said "he wanted to throw until the end".

I might just be slow, but wasn't the original post supposed to be a joke?

Edit: Making clear "original post" meant the one with Cora at 2nd. The slow part comes in not knowing whether Kools' post was a joke or not.

"Additionally, I'd like to add:

In my view, the Sox need to play their hearts out tonight and leave it all on the field. There are no second chances in baseball, so they have to make the most of their opportunities and capitalize on the angels' mistakes. They'll have to be savvy - you know there's intelligence and baseball knowledge and then there's savvy - and the Sox will have to be savvy to be the best of the best. They control their own destiny and they've got the credentials, but the big story tonight will be if they play the game the way it's meant to be played. If they can put it all together, dictate the tempo of the game and wear down the opposition, then the angels will only be half as good. It's like a fine bottle of wine that's aged long enough and it's time to pop the cork."

So, WIN!
