Maybe Lou's heart will finally explode tonight. Should be fun to watch.

By almost every measure, Lilly has actually been better than Zambrano this season: He's better in ERA, (3.82 vs. 4.14), ERA+ (119 vs. 116), WHIP (1.15 vs. 1.34), K/BB (3.09 vs. 1.77), and dugout fights (0 vs. 1).

Should be an interesting matchup... if I can stay awake for it.

I hope he pulls Lilly at 60 pitches to save him for game 5.

Chris Young hits a 3-run homer to put the Diamondbacks ahead. Arizona definitely got the better trade when they got Young for Javier Vasquez.

Byrnes hits a triple to make it 4-2.

Sarcasm? An 88 OPS+ over a 200 IP 123 ERA+?

I have serious doubts about Young ever hitting for avg or obp.

Not saying you'll be wrong after all is said and done with their careers, but Vazquez was a top ten pitcher in the AL this year, and Chris Young- his 32 HRs notwithstanding- was pretty bad. 295 OBP.

One thing about moving West- all the games being 2 hours (for me) earlier is much more reasonable and enjoyable. Especially the loooong ones.

This game is not doing much to convince me the NL is anything but the JV this season.

I normally watch zero network tv except for times like now. It is a sad state of affairs.

How much money could someone have made betting that the Rockies would be playing the D-Backs in the NLCS?

How is that not running outside of the basepath? When you make 2-3 steps to the right.....horrible call.

The Diamondbacks are a rather poor team. The Cubs are just far worse.

He's small, thus he is exactly like David Eckstien.

What a bummer going on here for the Cubbies....I'm still hanging on to my dream match-up of a Cubs/Sox WS, unceremoniously squashed by Bartman and Boone last time around (the pain eased only slightly by our then-Marlin avenger, Joshus Beckettus...). Something tells me it's not going to happen unless Sweet Lou cracks the whip on their asses in the clubhouse.

and Soriano strikes out...

Is anyone surprised? He is the most overrated player in baseball. Remember how great it was when he was an MFY and you just knew he was an instant (strike)out in the postseaon. I give Cashman credit for cutting bait there.

The National League play-offs have the feel of figuring out who sucks the least rather than who is the better team.

Oh wait! There is hope for the Cubbies.

The only player I miss more than Soriano on the MFYs.. the corpse of Tony Clark has been placed on first for the D-Backs.

Augie Ojeda has failed too impress me. He's made several defensive gaffes today. Completely missed a foul pop-up and tried to call off Drew on a pop-up just out of the infield that he was nowhere near. Luckily Drew ignored him and made the play.

The three of us are the only people still watching this game outside of Chicago.

Lee Ks. Up to Ramirez now.
