Nothing left to play for, but let's WIN!!! anyway.
Did you guys see Shea yesterday? C.B. Bucknor actually did something right. He kept the peace when Marlins pitcher Harvey Garcia lost control and threw behind Luis Castillo's ankles.
But when Garcia left the game after walking Castillo, Olivo charged third and attacked Jose Reyes.

Does Tavarez have something to play for, a spot on the post-season roster?Well, the Pats game is Monday night, so I guess there is a Red Sox game today.
Nothing left to play for, but let's WIN!!! anyway.
Also, isn't Lester scheduled for an audition as a reliever?
I'd like a win, just for the heck of it.

I'm referring to the team as a whole. Though I'm sure Lester would like to use this game to prove himself.Does Tavarez have something to play for, a spot on the post-season roster?
Also, isn't Lester scheduled for an audition as a reliever?
I'd like a win, just for the heck of it.

Those of you going to the game can celebrate a special Red Sox season and may even be present for a no-hitter.

The NL still has some meaningful games on the last day. Watching the Padres play the Brewers is less than stimulating.
And a word about the Mets. I understand that Met fans hate the MFY almost as much as Sox fans and that forges a bond of sorts between us. They also have Pedro back and I'd love to see him pitch in the post season again... still the Mets are from NYC, as are most of their fans. For this alone their misery must be completed with a loss and exclusion from the playoffs.

A relaxing day at Fenway - I'll focus on the beer and kettle korn and may not even be disgusted by the wave. Standing O for every one of them.

When I knew I had tickets for this game, I was hoping that it wouldn't be a nail-biter. Wish granted. I'd like to see Joolz get the
win

Surprisingly, it's the A team (minus JD, but with Jacoby). Apparently, Tito wants the best record in MLB--no ties. Or he's worried they'd be rusty by Wed.
Amalie reports that Tito is planning to sub guys out...

I'm assuming that Manny, Ortiz and Youks will be out by the fourth or fifth, with Lowell and Tek out shortly thereafter. Give everyone two or three AB's and get them out of the game healthy.Lineups per Amalie

Besides, JT deserves a win - afterall, without his surprising performace exceeding expectations during the 1st half, Sox may not have had as great a lead going into the 2nd half.
GO SOX - WIN TODAY!

And for that matter, let Tavarez throw 7 no matter what. 7 IP, 23 ER? Sure. Then bring in Lester for the 8th and 9th. (gotta give the kid his audition for a bullpen spot, right?) But really, this might be Julian's last appearance as a member of the Sox. Let him have his 7 innings.
Really.

I just noted that the Twins have two players in the lineup under the Mendoza line. They must want to just get it over with.

Why? They'll all be back Wednesday.I'm guessing that the lineup is there to get them one last start infront of the home fans, a couple of innings, then an ovation for the fans when they're pinch run for.

I know this game doesn't mean much - but I'm tired of Julio Lugo. I hope he has a great post season because right now - I have no use for him.
I am just checking in from time to time, but I must say that I enjoy Tavarez as the Director. His pointing to first reminds me of what a pleasure he was long ago early in the season.
p.s. Just realized my post is not a response to your post. Sorry, drinking beer and eating steak at midday leaves me slightly impaired. Anyone else ever tasted Almaza beer? It's Lebanese, and delicious!

He's played very well in the field lately - IMHO our best defensive infielder down the stretch.I know this game doesn't mean much - but I'm tired of Julio Lugo. I hope he has a great post season because right now - I have no use for him.
