I am thinking Wake is not a real plus for a play-off team at this juncture.
Not as a starter but I can't help remember what he did for us in the 2004 ALCS.

It was a lucky night indeed.Hey, did anyone notice that there were no IPS (?) errors during last night's excitement? How is that possible?

And their #2 starter against the Indians....2 base error puts Millar on second and scores another... even though it is meaningless it is good for Roger's buttboy to get worked.

Yes, but I also remember what he did to us in the 2003 ALCS (not that I blame him, but still when a knuckler doesn't knuckle that's what you run the risk of.)Not as a starter but I can't help remember what he did for us in the 2004 ALCS.

Agreed. Then if I had to choose I would rather have him start a game then come in where one pitch can mean the end of the game.

If grady had pulled Pedro at the correct time Wakefield would have been the 2003 ALCS MVP. I remember what he did in that series too. He almost singlehandedly won 2 games.Yes, but I also remember what he did to us in the 2003 ALCS (not that I blame him, but still when a knuckler doesn't knuckle that's what you run the risk of.)

Well i for one am grateful. I like those two stalwarts more than i like the butchers choice dry cureed streaky bacon i bought from Sainsburys. Granted i haven't ate the bacon yet.
Good work. Much appreciated.

I think it is fair to say that the Sox don't have a dependable fourth starter for the playoffs. This is fucking awful.
He's hot and cold. Hopefully this is the last of his cold spell. His hot and cold spells tend to last about 4-6 starts and then flip. Hopefully he's good when we need him to be.

Has Wake ever had a "hot" spell in October?

I believe the above situation is called "The Royce Clayton Sucktastic Effect".Them: 4 hits, 3 runs.
Us: 7 hits, 1 run.

How dependable are fourth starters really? I would guess Wake's dependability would be at least average, if not better, for a fourth starter.

There is no way Wakefield should be on the postseason roster. He has no role if he doesn't start and he's been so wretchedly bad since coming back from his injury that shouldn't start anything but the team bus in the postseason. It's too bad because he was going so well before the injury but dems the breaks.
