As a longtime Blackhawks fan, I can't help but feel a little bit relieved. Perhaps the Hawks can finally come into the 20th century.

The Bruins may have had some bad times lately, but Wirtz was by far the worst owner in sports. Hopefully the Original Six can start to come back now.

Finally.

Fuck Bill Wirtz. Fuck him mightily. He makes Jeremy Jacobs look like Santa Claus. Maybe the Hawks will actually broadcast their home games on TV now.

I remember being absolutely dumbfounded when I heard of some of Wirtz' policies like the broadcasting contract (or lack thereof). With some excellent young players like Kane, Toews, Barker, Keith, Ruutu and Havlat, I think the future's much, much brighter for the Hawks. Good riddance.

Very good news for Blackhawk fans and hockey fans in general. Wirtz was part of the good old boy network that treated the league like their own personal fiefdom. And he was so damn cheap, he'd squeeze a nickle til the buffalo shat.

Let's not forget that Wirtz was the key mover and shaker that allowed Alan Eagleson to run the NFLPA like a small time mafia family.

There's probably no one on this earth who's sad Wirtz is dead, which is probably the most telling thing about the man.

So does this mean that I can see Hawks home games now?
"If the Bruins are able to win the Cup, it will obliterate all of them. I've always played hockey, I've always loved hockey, some of my fondest memories in life involve hockey.

I can't imagine how it would feel, or what I would do...but it would be cataclysmic.

I want to find out what it's like."

People who care about hockey are doing cartwheels now.

Wirtz dead + sale of team = hockey fans in Chicago = major big market boost for the NHL. The NHL might actually pull a 1 now!

There's nothing out there, all that's there is sea, and birds, and fish...and 20,000 tons of crude oil...and a fire...and the part of the ship that the front fell off, but there's nothing else out there.

I usually believe that it's always sad on some level when some non-violent person dies, but I am having a hard time finding the sad part with this one. I'm sure some of his family members will miss him, maybe some of the people he worked with too. Yet surely the good will outweigh that.

This alone won't fix the Hawks, but he opportunity is now there.

Denis Savard is doing the Spin-o-Rama, and Al Secord went out and pounded someone in celebration.

When it comes to running a franchise, he made Paul Gaston look like Robert Kraft.
