I thought it might be a good thing to have a place to put draft-pick signings as the newly-crafted 8/15 deadline closes in. Also, this forum should have more than one thread in it.

This thread would be most valuable for info on Sox draft picks and their deals, and any comments on relation to slot recommendations.

If anyone has better info, please feel free to throw it in here. I have most of the signing info from SoxProspects.com

-Baseball America is saying Ryan Dent signing is done.

Dent, the 62nd overall pick, signed for $571,000 . . .
Dentís deal exceeded MLBís slot recommendation of $526,500, and was $500 less than Boston gave its other sandwich pick, Washington lefthander Nick Hagadone, at No. 55.

To update myself already, BA is saying the 2nd Rounder Hunter Morris is not expected to sign.

Per Soxprospects, Rizzo and Mailman are alleged to have signed.

No word on Frenchie.

Callis @ BA is making the Morris no-sign more definite:

Teams are negotiations with several of those draftees, but according to BA sources and reports by correspondents, these players have no chance of signing:

Second round: RHP Joshua Fields (Braves), 1B Hunter Morris (Red Sox).

BA confirming Mailman.

A&M forum has Middlebrooks going pro, in no uncertain terms (almost sounds like someone inside their baseball program).

I give those A&M fans credit. They all wished Middlebrooks good luck. No bitching. Hope we hear something official soon.

According to a google result, it looks like username "clendenin" would be Scott Clendenin. He is a radio guy (commentary) for Texas A&M baseball.

The Soxprospects guys (especially JSinger & The Dude) are on everything. Get over there for updates. I can't keep up. Hopefully when they figure out what the hell has gone on, they can update the signings for us here.

I'm gonna play some poker, finish my work, and watch some TV before sacking out. I can't be Googling high school men all night, someone will get suspicious. Let me know what happens, someone in the know.

Callis reporting that McGeary signed with the Nats. Impressive haul for DC this year.

1.8 million, and he misses the first 2 months, and last few weeks of the season. (They promise he can remain a full time student at Stanford, so his season will be late May to late August)

I hope McGeary threw a whole lot better in the summer than he did in the Sping. Based on the reports of his Spring performances this year (fastball down to the low to mid 80s at peak), I wouldn't have given him second round money

After signing high school first basemen Anthony Rizzo (sixth round, $325,000) and David Mailman (seventh round, $550,000) earlier on Deadline Day, the Red Sox have announced four more over-slot signings.

Most notably, Boston landed fifth-round third baseman Will Middlebrooks, considered to be a supplemental first-round talent for $925,000. The Red Sox also signed 16th-round righthander Austin Bailey ($285,000), 17th-round first baseman/outfielder Jaren Matthews ($250,000) and 23rd-round lefty Drake Britton ($700,000).

Bottom line

The Red Sox signed all but one of their draft picks from the top 12 rounds. Third baseman Hunter Morris, their third-round choice, chose to go to Auburn. The Sox' top draft choice at catcher, Yasmani Grandal, a 27th-round pick, decided to attend the University of Miami . . .

The Matthews signing is up in the air right now. I think BA screwed up on that one.
