No kidding, if you're going to take a Boras client, take Porcello. I'm confused.LaPorta to the Brewers? That's a head scratcher.

Maybe they have inside information that Selig is going to bring the DH to the National league.
It sure seems like a pretty rediculously awful pick. He is not value at this point, and he is little more than a DH on defense

This is what, to me, is so interesting about the MLB draft. Team's draft boards are so wildly different that it's fun to follow.

LaPorta is MUCH more signable than Porcello is. Probably about 1/4 the cost. but still a very bizzare pick

Not if you are unwilling to give him 10 million.
I just thing there were a lot of Better players than LaPorta on the table, and a lot of better players that are at least as signable

What does Callis have to say about this?

Looks like they don't want to pay the Prince in a few years.
You'd have to think that LaPorta's about as close to the majors as any hitter in this draft, though, right? So presumably it would be an issue before Prince hits FA. Maybe they think LaPorta can handle LF? That said, the Brewers get about as close a free pass as anyone as far as the draft goes..

I can't believe Harvey, Porcello, and Main are all available by 20. So much for all the draft rules bringing about fairness in the draft haha
edit: andddddd 21
To be fair it seems like Harvey has dropped mostly because he was just ok this spring, not dominant as expected. Of course if he was an easy sign, he might already be gone.
Maybe the Celtics should see if they can confuse Portland, Seattle, etc by getting Boras to represent Oden.

I'm at 24(Main) not sure if I'm totally caught up with the way I'm following it.

You are caught up.
Porcello is falling like a rock. So is Borbon (OF, Tennessee). Both are Boras clients (as are a bunch who have already been picked).
Big surprise thus far was LaPorta to the Brewers.

Pretty much as expected. If the Yankees get Porcello, the Sox are going to have a hard time not having the worst draft in the AL East this year.I'm at 24(Main) not sure if I'm totally caught up with the way I'm following it.

That's a heck of a statement based on a total of 0 picks even made by Boston and the fact it could take a few years to judge when they finally get one.

If the D-Rays gets Price, the Yankees get Porcello, the O's get Wieters, and the Blue Jays simply use all their first round picks wisely, it will be hard for the Sox to match that.

Ugg don't you realize, the draft is televised now, so obviously it is more important. I mean, I understand bringing more interest in the draft but this is going to end up disappointing more people than exciting. Being most of these people are at least three years away from the majors and probably 4 or 5 from being impact players.

Why can't we get scouting directors like that?

The Tigers owed us one after taking Miller off the board before the Sox could last year.Wow!! Tigers stepped up for Porcello!!

David Chadd is a genuis - Cameron Maybin, Andrew Miller, Rick Porcello.
Why can't we get scouting directors like that?
Obviously you never know with pitchers, but man the Tigers, and really the Devil Rays (add Price to Davis, Mghee, etc) might just dominate the next decade.

Quoting my own post just to note that Callis is ripping me off!

Televising the draft hasn't really changed the popularity. This year's draft will certainly be less exciting than last years, because of the huge number of early picks the team had in 2006.Ugg don't you realize, the draft is televised now, so obviously it is more important. The last time the Sox had their first pick this late, they grabbed Pedroia. So, anything could happen.

Nice! Porcello to the Tigers.
I would not have liked seeing him end up in the Yankees' farm system. Not thrilled that they could get Harvey either, but oh well.

I am talking about nationally not just with the Red Sox.

LOL... how fitting. Brackman to the Yankees after Porcello gets scooped up by Detroit.
Pretty much stunned by that one, but you never know. Maybe they did a private workout with him and he showed he was healthy
