Beltran strikes out with the bases loaded.
He is REALLY pissing me off.
This season has been particularly frustrating with the struggles of Beltran and Delgado. It seems always seems like when one is hot, the other is cold. I really hope they both get their acts together because it would be a sight for sore eyes to see them both in a groove at the same time.

Maybe I'm just being overly optimistic, but I think this team is going to come out like gangbusters after the break. I think Milledge will give them a huge spark, Alou if he can stay healthy really balances the lineup, and I'm in the camp that Pedro is going to come back in very very good form. Still though, they really need to say bye bye to Jose Valentin and just give the job to Gotay because Valentin is killing this team almost as badly as Franco is.
Valentin's playing with a partially torn ACL. He needs surgery but didn't want to have it.
I went on record last off-season saying that I wanted Loretta on this team. Unfortunately, Omar didn't listen to me.

I wish he had listened to you, lol, because Loretta is having a really great year for Houston.

Man, when I thought the team would come out like gangbusters after the ASB I wasn't thinking this literally. Jose Reyes and Ruben Gotay with back to back homers in the 1st inning of the 1st game after the ASB!!! With all the roster moves, coaching changes, etc. it's hard not to be excited for the 2nd half of the season.
I'm going tonight (Endy Chavez bobbleheads) and tomorrow night (Ralph Kiner night). John Maine pitches tonight and Tom Glavine goes for #298 tomorrow. Oliver Perez is slated for Sunday. There is no excuse for not taking AT LEAST 3 of 4 in this series.

Also, you obviously have to take this with a grain of salt, but more good news on the Alou front and hopefully he can stay healthy for the rest of the year..Left fielder Moises Alou looked ready to return to Major League soon action when he hit a home run well over the centerfield fence in a Gulf Coast League game Monday at the Tradition Field Complex.
the word from florida is that alou is essentially major-league ready, and after having visited a variety of specialists, while taking his time to rehab correctly, he feels great and is confident he will suffer no other set backs this season…
Oh, and another funny Alou quote, Mike Francessa apparently lives in a nearby town to where Alou lives (I believe in Manhasset), and Francessa bumped into him personally and said Alou was healthy and feeling good and he just needed to get his timing back with a few rehab starts, and that "Alou is ready to rock and roll."

Edit: and yeah, Morgan said that. The Miller/Morgan announcing team can always be counted on for about five statements that are factually incorrect per game.

Morgan is awful, but I really enjoy Miller.
Is Glavine going to be the last 300 game winner ever?

Looks like Wood still has his heater, FWIW.
How bout that slider!!
Glavine's wife is a cougar. Any thoughts on Wrigley giving Glavine a Standing O while the game is still in doubt? Further enhances the view of the Cubbies as lovable losers.

Yeah, Wood looked great. Good for him, too. Lots of pleasant feelings in this one.
FWIW, the thing that drives me crazy about Miller (beyond his constant misspeakings) is his tendency to reduce every player to a single-word descriptor that simplifies their abilities. Everyone is like the slugger or the flamethrower or the speedster. It's lame and sort of faux old-fashioned.

I think it really underscores Glavine's status as a seriously respected dude. Not every pitcher in that situation would get the standing o, but you can't help but appreciate how Tom has played and conducted himself over the years. He would've had the same treatment in Fenway, I think.

Awful job by DeRosa. The Cubs are playing a lousy game.

DeRosa's outfield play almost makes our WillyMo resemble in an prime Clemente.
Re: Joe Morgan... I'd prefer listening to an eternity of country music ( which I detest ). I challenge anyone to name a national announcer worse than him!

"Aggressiveness on the bases, without running into outs, will give you more scoring opportunities." Thank you Joe Morgan.
I turn down the sound on ESPN and turn on the radio and deal with the delay. It's worth it not to have to hear Joe Moron.

With a 4-3 lead in the top of the ninth......Braves rallied with bases loaded and nobody out.
Two grounders later......Mets hold-on for the victory.

I despise the save rule -- it's way too easy to get one. Heck, the guy who pitched for the Rangers last night got one. It's not like that result of that game was in question when he came in.

Hoffman currently in the middle of a chokejob that would make Billy Wagner proud.
didn't they just do this song and dance a few days ago?
somehow theres an "the NL sucks" joke in this 9th inning...

The NL sucks? Gagne's not exactly pitching well.
And it wasn't an NL team that gave up close to 40 runs on Wednesday night.
We like to pretend that the Orioles aren't an AL team.
And I don't get your point about Gagne - Gagne has had quite a few arm surgeries since his Dodgers days.
