Bats seem to be waking up. Youkilis with a 2-run bomb. Tavarez has given up 4 hits and 1 run through 4 IP.
Just got in. Maybe they're getting into 'season mode?' No more trying to go the opposite way, tinkering mechanics etc. Just hitting like they normally would. How many HR were pulled?

Manny's was a high fly to right, aided somewhat by the dimensions of Citizens Bank. Drew's was an absolute bomb to straight-away CF. Youkilis and Pedroia both went deep to LF.Just got in. Cool, thanks a bunch. Not a bad night for Tavarez either; 5.2 IP 1 ER and only 69 pitches against a good hitting team in a hitter's park.

When do we start to worry about the impact of Papa Jack's absence on Ortiz? Probably not for a while, and probably not ever.

Still good to see Manny going opposite field. He always hits RF HRs when he gets hot..hopefulyl good omen to start the season.

Edit: And I just found the GameDay blog where they are documenting some of the changes to come. Interesting.

Looks like Snyder had a rough night, and couldn't record the final out in the 9th before his pitch count became too high.
2.2 ip, 5 h, 4 r, 4 er, 2 bb, 3 K's
1st inning = good
2nd = ok
3rd = not so much
Just 'cause he was a starter doesn't mean that he should be used as a long reliever, and I hope Tito is smart enough to use him in short outings when the games count.

Or perhaps not at all or a lot in Pawtucket.

Snyder can't go to Pawtucket. He's out of options. Which is why he had scouts following him like a swarm of bees this spring.
I agree - use the guy in short situations. That's when he's at his best.
