he's done for today, let's see if Tito waits for KC to tie it before taking him out.

OK ... we need to stop talking about how well Julian has done!

Pre-Edit: Bye Julian.

Real Edit: Did he acknowledge the cheers any?

Good call pulling Tavarez. Nothing had been hit in the air prior through 5. He was tiring and it was showing.

Nice Big Tip of the Cap too.. I hope that don't upset Youks..

Tavarez's third time through the order and the Royals figured him out. Sounds like Kyle Snyder. We've got two long relievers next year.

Looked like he had his mind up before he came off the mound

That must have been the quickest tip of the cap I've ever seen in any Sox game in about 20 years.

Tavarez can get ground balls for days when he's in control of his pitches, I wouldn't mind seeing him in the bullpen next year. He leads the league in dp's if I'm not mistaken.
The tips of the cap were classy too. Oh Julian, why must you make me love you?!?

I love these moments of the real Red Sox.

(As opposed to the since the end of July possessed by aliens Red Sox.)

One of Snyder's best games was in relief of David Wells in one of his rehab starts -- knee-bending curves from both sides of the plate. Tavarez's sinker/slider combination would make a nice change of pace from Snyder's curve/fastball/change toolkit.

And on another note, nice to have you back, Papi!

Papi's so good that's why the fuckups in assembling this team piss me off. This not just another Sox team that missed the playoffs it is the Sox team with the best, no two best hitters they have ever had in my life time.

Call me pathetic, but after being out all morning I got back and the first thing I did - even before dealing with an imminently impending bowel movement - was get online to check the Sox score.

Not sure whether the score or BM brought the most relief, but I do feel pretty damn good at the moment.

Sounds like you're saying they should have gone for it this year big time. I kind of agree, a bird in the hand and all that, but the injuries late this year might have killed their chances anyway.

Same was true in the Pedro era, except for his being maybe the best pitcher ever during a few of those years.

Maybe this will pay off the same way.

Article on MLB.com now about Crisp's finger injury flaring up last night in his second at bat (and that it hadn't fully healed yet).

Might explain some of the later non-moves by Tito as well as his poor offensive performance since his return. There are a lot of things to question about Coco, but you've got to think (hope/pray) he'll rebound a good bit next year.

Edit: clarify

Brandon Arroyo with another gem today, even if it was against the Pirates. I thought the NL had him figured out.

At least Tito is making decent bullpen decisions today. Unlike Mr. Torre, who just can't wait for Scott Proctor to have Tommy John surgery.
