That at bat was pretty much Kottaras in a nutshell.
I mean the strikeouts, the reaching base without a ton of contact, the opportunism, it's all right there -- except the power of course.

Nice article, but I don't get the part where his parents happened to see his first at-bat while looking at sofas in a department store.
I mean, if I had a kid who got called up for the first time, I'd be on the first plane to the first game he's even going to be on the bench in - and at least go to every game until he saw his first action.

He was called up on the 8th. Do you really think they have enough money for tickets and hotel rooms to sit through 5 or so games waiting for him to see some action?
"Fuck the World Series," said Mauer. "Seriously. Write that down. Fuck the World Series. If I ever win a World Series ring, I will literally just take it and fuck the tiny ring-hole." Mauer punctuated his remarks with a graphic, thrusting pantomime, presumably of what he would physically do to the World Series ring.

Whether the Red Sox trade for a backup catcher like Salty to share the position with Vtek, Cash, Ross or Brown, or trade for an top notch defensive catcher like Teagarden, I think that is going to impact a lot of catchers in the organization, cetainly Mark Wagner.

George is now part of the Milwaukee organization.
Per ESPN:
Kottaras will make a couple of starts each week for now as the backup to Gregg Zaun, but it's unclear if he'll remain in the fold later in the year if Jonathan Lucroy or Angel Salome get the call to Milwaukee.

It'll always pain me that I'll never get to use "Mulva!" in a gamethread after a Kottaras bomb for the Sox.

Hey, no love for his performance yesterday?
Got one run, 2 RBI, threw out a guy attempting to steal second.
As for his run, he scored from first on a double with two outs. A speedy little catcher.

The only thing that would have been more improbable in baseball history than Bengie Molina hitting for the cycle, ending with a stand-up triple, would have been if Eddie Gaedel had hit an inside-the-park home run in his one and only career at-bat.----Fiskian Pole Shot, game thread 7/16/10

I was disappointed until a pack of dogs came along and entertained me by juggling miniature torches. I know it had to be a dream, because I never watch Sportscenter."
