6 groundball outs, 3 K's for JT.

Let's hope he can keep it up the second time through their order.

JT at 49 pitches through 3 ...

Does he have a pitch limit, or just stay out until he sux?

This is true for everybody but the CFYs.  Without your two best guys, most contenders are not contenders.  I'll grant you that our two best guys are pretty good.

Take away Thome and Jermaine Dye, or Konerko and Dye, and what do the White Sox bring  that would scare you?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Joe Crede, Pierzynski, Taguchi are solid and are comparable if not superior with our options at the same positions. Their staff, while not spectacular is full of inning eaters and has a superior bullpen.

If I was a White Sox fan, with my team holding a microscopic Wild Card lead and not playing that well for a few weeks, I would be absolutely hating the way my team was being hamstrung by the one and only Julian Tavarez....never thought much of being a "spoiler" but there's something fun about this.

He'll be prettier than a homecoming queen if he can reel in a W tonight.

Amen.

... and I have seen homecoming queens that weren't much prettier anyway.

When the knuckles on his right hand start dragging on the ground they'll look at it. (I don't know).

That's rough.

Letting Garland settle in. He has not been that good this year (applies to all the White Sox starters, actually).

Must say JT looks solid.

Garland in a groove, one stinkin run would pump up Tavares.
How long can he hang? This inning will tell. could be trouble.

No difference yet though. You'd think they'd come out like a housafire. But, no.

And Konerko down quickly.

Just tuned in. No Coco, sore LEFT shoulder? Give me a break, play through it man. Left shoulder, not right, and you sit (or made to sit by Tito). Not missing Coco the leadoff guy, am missing Coco the #7 guy, especially when it means we have Kapler in the lineup (how about WMP in CF?).

Hinske as DH instead of WMP? Good grief. WMP hits RHP better than LHP. Right?. Bill James, where are you?

I worry even we get healthy we will continue to see stupid lineups. At least when we had no bench and everyone was healthy Tito didnt have much room to mess around. Now its September and as guys come back from injuries the bench is deep. The more choices Tito has, the more crazy lineups. Time for resting guys is over. Play your best guys, the A lineup, every day, until we get eliminated. At least try Tito.

JT has thrown first pitch strikes in 11 of the 16 PAs that CWS has had tonight (based on my quick math)

That is a telling number to me that he is comfortable and not afraid of the hitters the CWS are bringing to the plate.

Tavarez looks much more confident starting than he does coming into a tie game in the 6th or 7th. Huge difference.

5 shutout innings, wow, he owns the ChiSox. That's 10 shutout innings on the season against them.

Hmm, maybe Tavarez could be the fifth starter next year.

Or the ace. Either way, for 3 million bucks he can be very valuable.

I don't know if it has been mentioned, but Tavarez is going to his forehead/under his hat in between every pitch, and the ball sure is sinking. It is probably just sweat, but it's working!

I definitely did not advocate doing so at the time, but he might have been a better replacement for Clement than Snyder and Johnson.

I certainly doubt, looking backward, that he would have been worse.

He certainly wont be missed as a lead off hitter, but he hits decent at the bottom of the lineup. It's more the principle of resting guys with nagging injuries at this time of the season. June, July?, sure. September? Against the team we are competing with the WC for? No. Sends the wrong message to the players.
