I don't know if this is newsworthy, but:

Obama ad will push back start of Game 6

He's doing a half hour ad that day on Fox and they are accomodating him but moving the start of the game.

They did say they would do the same for the McCain camp if they wanted.

Just awful. These games already start way to late.

Obama should tell MLB thank you, but don't change the time for me.

its fifteen minutes.
does that really matter when we're talking about a 4.5+ hr game?

Sure. Kids are already missing a good portion of every game anyway, so what's another inning or two?

I won't be overly disappointed since the Sox likely won't be in the World Series so us Red Sox fans won't have to worry about it.

That's not the point. It's an issue of priorities. Baseball is important. Politics aren't.

I'd be okay with it if instead of moving the start time back 15 minutes, they cut out 15 minutes of their inane pregame show.

Yes, yes, I know. You think it's over. Great - excited for you.

Now how about just letting them play the game?

Wrong answer.

Correct answer is: I won't be overly disappointed since the Sox likely will have swept the World Series by then so no one will have to worry about it.

You have failed.

My thoughts exactly. But of course, they would never do that.

I just read that the game will be delayed by eight minutes, if there IS a Game 6. BFD.

Good move by Obama to land that spot on Fox. He'll be reaching the people he most wants to reach, older independent men. Of course, if there's no Game 6, then it'll be a less valuable spot.

15 minutes is like two batters in the postseason. So little Suzy and Johnny will see 1.2 innings instead of the usual two they get to see.

Kids today are pussies. When I was in middle school and elementary school I always would stay up (or try to) for the entire game if it was close. Is it really that hard for a 10 year old to go on 7 hours of sleep?
redsahx
I wouldn't be surprised if Fox is doing this specifically to get Obama into trouble.

I.E. "Sure you can buy air time from us, THEN we'll turn around and make it into a controversy by announcing that we'll be delaying the broadcast of a World Series game so you'll look like the villain".

I used to get sent to bed and I would either turn the radio on or hang out at the top of the stairs and listen to the TV broadcast as my dad watched it. I would venture a guess that there are a lot of kids today doing similar things, except they all have computers and/or televisions in their rooms and are watching the game on sopcast while playing the sound feed through their headphones so mom and dad, but mostly mom, won't hear.

Although, I might be an exception. I never went to sleep anywhere near when I got sent to bed. I would turn on the radio, or listen to tapes, or, mostly read, for an hour or two between when I got sent to bed and when I went to sleep. Of course, I never got enough sleep, but who needs sleep?

On a separate note, this is stupid. Fox should've responded to Obama's people, "You scheduled poorly. The day before you want to run your ad, there is no baseball. There is also no football. Run your ad on Tuesday and we will accommodate you. If you want to conflict with the World Series, you are SOL. We already lose enough East coast viewers at the end of games as is cause we start so damn late."

Disclaimer: I am an Obama supporter. I live in Colorado. Playoff games start at the very civilized time of 6:00 PM here. I really don't mind waiting a little longer for the game to start since it will still be over at a reasonable time and it might even give me time to cook dinner between work and the game starting. Of course, none of this matters. The Red Sox beat the Phillies in 5. Cole Hamels wins one game.

Nah, even that couldn't touch the guy. After all, the Messiah's weathered Ayers (how's that for a pun?), Rezko, Rev. Wrong, ACORN and now Rashid Khalidi. What's a little 30-min infomercial between friends?

There was Basketball last night, and Sen. Obama's team (the Bulls) were playing. As for Fox: ABC did turn the campaign down, Fox easily could have but decided the money from the Obama campaign was worth the pain.

Fox is in the position of having their cake and eating it, too. Are you suggesting that there was a chance they would have told Obama and his advertising bucks to take a hike when they could have the ad and the game simply by pushing an already obscene start time out by a few minutes?
Pedro's Complaint
Complete non-issue. Game started the same time it started the other nights. Did anyone really miss Jeanne Zelasko and Fox's awful pre-game show?
