After being scratched from Friday's start and after a rain delay on Saturday, Dice-K will look to tune up for the playoffs with a win.

Easy does it. Let's get some practice winning done.
sachmoney
Daisuke will get the job done...son.
Barbara
I needed some good news after last night's debacle.

There are 2 East Coast games on Fox this afternoon - Nats v. Philly and the other NY team in Boston.

Unbelievably SE VA (a hop, skip and a jump from DC) is getting the Boston feed. (At least that is what my cable guide is showing. Like I trust Fox.)

Woo hooo.

Crush em DiceK. Let's

W I N !!

Anyone know who might be announcing this game?

It's my grandmothers first time going to a baseball game (shes 70) and she's making a sign to try and get on TV.

Thanks in advance.

Jesus we are going to get soaked and I'm guessing the game will not be played. Thank God for alcohol.

Due to inclement weather, today's game will not start at the scheduled time of 3:55. The Red Sox "will do everything they can" to get the game in today. As for now, Daisuke Matsuzaka is still the starting pitcher. The Red Sox are expecting rain for the next few hours. We'll keep you posted.

next few hours, eh?

Doesn't look good

Raining hard at Fenway.This sucks.
SydneySox
1 hour later, how's the weather?

Trying to work out if I should go back to bed or stay up waiting for a game...

edit: Nice timing. Looks like I'm going back to bed.
Kremlin Watcher
Looks like it's been canceled according to MLB.com. Is this right? So do we run out the Lowell Spinners for a DH tomorrow?
Clemente38
Keep my seat dry wink.gif

Game is postponed.

Day night DH
rmurph3
Still need to get DiceK at least a little work. Short outing in the first game tomorrow, then Wake in the nightcap?

Wonder if the Yanks would throw Moose in the nightcap, figuring he'd have a better shot at win #20 against the PawSox?
Clemente38
The weather forecast for tomorrow is basically some form of rain every hour throughout the day. It ranges from rain, to showers, to few showers in the evening. How do they expect to get two games in tomorrow and who would you want to put out there on the field in those conditions.

Can you tell I've got tickets to the now 2nd game tomorrow? Just cancel the friggin' game.

Fratboy
The Red Sox will play one game, if only to get the three million in attendance they'll want to crow about. But really, I'm up for resting to prepare for the division series.
RedOctober3829
They need to play some form of a game tomorrow because the regulars can't go 4 days without game action. I imagine they will play the regulars for 4-5 innings tomorrow in the first game then it turns into Fort Myers for the remainder of the day.
amh03
The game's been called - moving it to 7:30 tomorrow evening. I got an e-mail about it but will go look for something official.

Edit - oops, I see that Kremlin & Clemente's already got us covered.

Here's the official announcement - Today's Game Postponed
ctsoxfan5
I have tickets to Sunday 1:35 game. Before I drive up from Hartford, anyone have a guess as to the odds the game gets played? Is our resident vendor being called in or told not to go in?
Pearl Wilson
You may have already seen this, as it's from 9:30 a.m., Glob Blog. It has not been updated since then.

Here's the latest weather update from the Red Sox:

The current weather forecast in the vicinity of Fenway Park calls for the rain showers currently in the area to dissipate in the late morning hours. At this point, Meteorlogix predicts that relatively dry conditions are expected for the remainder of the day and evening.

The Fenway Park gates will open at the regularly scheduled time of 11:35 p.m. for the 1:35 p.m. day game with the Yankees, and the Red Sox expect that both games scheduled for Sunday will be played.

The ceremony to retire the uniform number of Johnny Pesky is scheduled to begin at approximately 1:15 p.m.

The night game between the Red Sox and Yankees is scheduled to start at 7:35 p.m. Tickets from Saturday’s rainout should be used for the Sunday night game.

This forecast is of course subject to change as the day progresses. Additional updates will be provided periodically.
TheoShmeo
Have the Sox definitively said that if either or both of these games are rained out, that they will not be made up on Monday?

I assume that's the case inasmuch as these games have no impact on the playoff races, but I haven't seen or heard anyone say that.
NYCSox
I can't look it up now, but I'm pretty sure the CBA doesn't allow for makeup games to be played after the last day of the season if they have no impact on the final standings.
Pearl Wilson
Tarp on field.

Anyone have a link to where this is being streamed? I usually go to http://www.myp2pforum.eu/mlb-baseball/ but there's no streaming right now, and I want to see the Pesky ceremony. Or is it that being delayed by rain right now??
ngruz25
When was the last time you heard Nomar talking about the Red Sox with glowing praise? I don't know why, but I really like to see that.
BoSoxLady
Tarp is waiting to go on the field after the ceremony. Mound and plate are covered.
Barbara
Is the Pesky ceremony being delayed too?
Gambler7
That's just good stuff right there
Pearl Wilson
Nope, it's finished. After some milling around, Pesky's leaving the field now.
Ed Hillel
Surprised at the lack of activity here for that ceremony.
Sille Skrub
Great shot of Pesky when they unveiled the number. He was so overcome with emotion he had to cover his face.

Nice moment. This ownership group contiunes to get it right.
DaveJstice
Wondering what this does with Daisuke? I guess it depends on the rain but maybe he gets pushed to tonight's game?
Sille Skrub
Another funny moment. They cut to Damon as he was applauding Pesky.

Someone must have said something because Damon turned around, shook his head and told the person to shut up.
BoSoxLady
Tarp is being removed.

I saw that, but couldn't make out what Damon said. He looked pissed.
Sille Skrub
He definitely said "shut up," I had to rewind the TiVo to confirm.

Check the forum, if it's not there, a stream will probably be posted soon if it's not there.

Let's go guys - finally! 95 wins - no injuries.

Having seen Damon do similar things twice before Sox-MFYs games at Fenway, and having been on the receiving end one of those times, it's clear that the Boston emotions remain raw for Johnny.

Similar to what Dog noted in the Pesky thread, I thought it was was pretty nice little tweak of the Yankees that the Sox noted the "classy" Joe Torre during the Pesky ceremonies.

I know that this game is meaningless, and the only things that really matter are avoiding injuries, tuning up DMat and getting Lowell and Drew some time (are they still playing?), but damn, it's nice to watch a Sox-Yankees game without the usual angst.

Oh, and let's keep Mussina from 20.
Corsi Combover
Drew looked good there.

Is that the best throw that Johnny Damon ever made from the OF at Fenway?

Dustin Pedroia went to the Sean Casey School of Baserunning.

Youkilis has got to be killing Pedroia about that, getting thrown out by Damon

I still think that Giambi gets my award for the man I'd least likely want to meet in a dark alley.
