As you may expect, my college career was no doubt the worst time spent in my life.

Scotian: He sounds a bit pompous. Which is good. The fractured arm? At the elbow? But sheesh, Six Four and 235? Where is this dude on the depth charts?
scotian1
A left hander with that size and pretty good K/BB ratio looks like a possibility. With him being signed out of the Cape Cod League last summer and with the injury history, he is flying under the radar at present but I look on him as having potential.
SauceJack
Scotian - the thing I liked about seeing this prospect was the K/BB stat at Lowell in the Penn league. A marked improvement from FSU. Especially with the elbow deal. Is the dude a power pitcher, or more like a 12/6 lefty like Zito?
scotian1
During the interview this is what Hunter Jones said;

RSN: Do you consider yourself a power pitcher, or do you rely on other ways of getting outs?

HJ: In the past I would definitely consider myself a power pitcher, but as I've grown mentally as a pitcher, I feel like I use a lot of thinking and finesse to control the game. It is always nice to know that I have enough velocity and movement to occasionally get away with bad pitches. I guess that I have kept shades of a power pitcher with a lot more thinking involved in my game. I now know and realize that I don't need to throw as hard as I can a majority of the time. I don't need to always pitch to my strengths, but rather expose the hitter's weaknesses.

He also said that he throws a 2 seam fastball, a circle change, a curve ball and he was working on a four seam fastball. He said that his best pitch was his fastball.

Little article on Jones in last week's Antelope Valley Press. Blurb:

QUOTE
The 23-year-old is in fine form after struggling with command of his fastball at season's beginning. His delivery was off, causing his heater to cut outside of the strike zone.

It took first month to rediscover the proper delivery and the difference has been easy to spot. In his three shutout innings of one-hit ball on Tuesday, 33 of the 35 pitches Jones threw were fastballs - plenty of which had late life.
