Thanks for holding this, we’ll be needing it now.
Go Big Red Sox
I'm heading to Greece tonight, and I won't be back until the last day of the season. I'd like to go out in first place. Make it happen.
sachmoney
I am wearing my Daisuke garb today...and by garb I mean jersey. We've got to rally tonight boys, no 0 for 4s Dustin! No striking out on pitches that are close enough where the umps will call strike three David! Considering I missed most of the game, I don't really have much to pick on. I suppose there wasn't much to pick on yesterday. Is there anyone you'd rather want starting this game than Daisuke?!!!!!

Greece, have fun, reminds me of a classic The Wire conversation.

Moreland: Them Greeks have some weird ass names.
McNulty: Hey, don't mock the Greeks, they invented civilization
Moreland: And ass fuc*ing, too.

So enjoy the ass and when you come back, the Sox will be in first.

Author's Note: i'm Greek.
Foulkey Reese
All hell is about to break loose in New England today. Hopefully it will all pass before game time, but I wouldn't be shocked if there was no game tonight.

How is that not nearly as bad? I suck at reading those things but it looks like thunderstorms all evening and into the night until 11, right?

Boston:
2pm:Slight Chance Thunderstorms , Slight Chance Light Rain Showers
5pm:Likely Thunderstorms , Likely Rain Showers
8pm:Chance of Thunderstorms , Chance of Light Rain Showers

It's not a beautiful night, but it's not as bad as the other forecast.

Foulkey's forecast by hour says this:
11am:Slight Chance Thunderstorms , Slight Chance Light Rain Showers
2pm:Chance of Thunderstorms , Chance of Light Rain Showers
5pm:Likely Thunderstorms , Likely Light Rain Showers
8pm:Likely Thunderstorms , Likely Light Rain Showers
11pm:Chance of Thunderstorms , Chance of Light Rain Showers

That seems quite a bit worse to me.

I miss Tom Brady.

It's absolutely pouring out right now. 5 minutes ago, before the rain and intense winds, I couldn't see Fenway from the Hancock. Lets hope it clears up a lot...
Foulkey Reese
Look bad right now, but maybe things will clear up later.

Can someone text me if it is a rainout?

Trying to decide if I'm making the 2 hour trek up there. I most likely am since I'd have to eat $100 if they end up playing. I jsut dont like the prospects of paying for gas and parking only to sit in the rain and have it called.

I'm guessing a 1-2 hour delay then game time.

If the current conditions are any indication, it could be a wet night at Fenway Park.

It's raining in Boston and the National Weather Service calls for more showers this afternoon and this evening. Thunderstorms are in the forecast and some storms could be severe, with large hail, damaging winds, and heavy rain.

For tonight, there's a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 10 p.m. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.

Tonight's Sox-Rays game is scheduled to start on time but stay tuned here for more weather updates and the latest news from the Globe's Nancy Marrapese-Burrell, who will be at Fenway Park a bit later this afternoon.

Steve Silva comes across as a douche even when he's just reporting the weather. That's a rare talent.

I'm surprised that he didn't blame one of the Dominican players for the rain.

In 42 PA, Papi is .189/.286/.297 vs. Kazmir.

It's a good day to rest the big man.

Ah, just the guy to cool Coco off tonight.

Tito, by batting him leadoff.

Both teams have Thursday off, so I would think a day game Thursday. However, I think they'll get it in tonight.

I think batting order position is wildly overrated... CC will be fine leading off.

That said, it drives me nuts when Tito plays Lowrie 2nd. And the way he has decided that Pedroia (and in old Manny days, Youk) will "fill in" for any key spot that is vacated...

Why not let Jason Bay hit third and keep everyone esle in place?

Anyway, enough self-contradiction. go get em Sox.

On one hand, I completely agree. On the other hand, I couldn't disagree more.

This game is going to be played. This game is going to change the AL East standings. This game will make Scott Kazmir shrink away like a frightened turtle. Dice-K will spin his 5 inning magic. Masterson will use the force to stymie Tampa's bats for two innings. Okaji will channel his nner '07. MDC will be tricked into thinking the game is a 20-1 laugher. The shenanigans stop here. The tomfoolery stops here. Tampa's confidence stops here.

Just out of curiosity, I wonder if anyone knows the last time the Red Sox batted their DH in the 9-spot. It must have been years. Seems like something Jimy Williams would have done. Though tonight, given this lineup, it seems fairly logical.

Given Kazmir's large platoon split, you gotta like the Sox lineup with only one LHH in there.

Not to mention two switch hitters who both hit lefties far better than righties.

Its going to be tough, but Dice-K can and must throw his A game. I do believe in momentum - keep charging ahead guys, hit him early and often, and put Kaz and the kids back in 2nd where they belong for good.

[Oh, and keep an eye in that rearview mirror for the Jays, not the MFYs.]

GO SOX - KICK ASS TONIGHT!

I heard that there was some kind of video tribute played on NESN last night after the fifth and the game became official.
Anyone know if that is on line anywhere?

thanks a lot
