Game StoryQUOTE
Rain and a subsequent postponement extended the Pawtucket Red Sox’ season by at least a day yesterday.
The PawSox will be back at PNC Field today at 5:05 trying to extend it again by forcing a fifth and deciding game in their International League semifinal series with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees.
“Nobody wants days off at this point in the season, but if you have to have a rainout, it might as well be a college football Saturday,” PawSox manager Ron Johnson said.
The travels of a professional baseball career has resulted in Johnson following a variety of teams — Southern California, Florida State, Cincinnati and Tennessee. After being informed of the postponement yesterday afternoon just minutes after arriving at the stadium, Johnson was back to his Scranton-area hotel to monitor several games on TV.

Game StoryQUOTE
Lake Elsinore broke on top with a four run second inning against JetHawks starter Travis Beazley. Two Lancaster errors in the inning, the first by shortstop Yamaico Navarro and the second by centerfielder Kris Negron made two of the runs unearned.
Trailing 4-0, the JetHawks scored two runs in each of the next three innings. In the second, Michael Jones laced a two-run homer straight away to centerfield to make the score 4-2. In the third, RBI singles from 1B Daniel Nava and Jones tied the game at 4-4. Lancaster took advantage of a walk, a hit-by-pitch, a balk and a Storm error to take a 6-4 lead in the bottom of the fourth.
Jones was 3-4, with a homerun and three RBI to lead the Lancaster attack.
However, the Storm launched back-to-back homeruns off reliever Kyle Fernandes in the fifth to recapture the lead 7-6. From there, the Storm added another homerun in the sixth off Fernandes for an 8-6 advantage. Lake Elsinore completed the scoring with a run in the eighth and three in the ninth off Josh Papelbon.
With his mind back on baseball today, Johnson will be trying to find a way to put pressure on the Yankees in a game to determine a berth in the league final.
“Our goal is just to create a Game Five,” Johnson said. “I think that could put the advantage back in our court with a deciding game and pressure on them to win in on their home field.”
To create that pressure, the PawSox need to improve their offense.
