p.s Twins suck)

It is always exciting to see the future today.

Win it for Clay!
koufax32
When will we know if Bowden is the real thing or not? "When the hurler Buehrle's done. When the battle's lost or won."

Macbeth reference=virtual lock today. Go Sox. Win today. Keep up the pressure.
Todd Benzinger
So here's hoping we'll see Kotsay at 1B and Cora where he belongs: on the bench. It might be fun to see a catcher who has been known to hit some bombs on occasion too (ie Ross)...

So I just found out that 1) The game is on WGN so I can watch a bit at work today, and 2) I can listen to MLB games on my phone (thank you Verizon) so that even if my corporate masters block it on the internet, I've got audio.

Lets see the Kid get 5 or 6 clean innings and pray for the pen......

I'm not happy to see Youk out of the lineup, but I love the little man in the cleanup spot. rolling.gif rolling.gif

You just know Pedroia is in that clubhouse right now strutting and talking all kinds of crap.

"Hey, Big Papi, guess who is protecting you today? GET READY FOR THE LASER SHOW BABY!"
sibpin
In what world is Mark Kotsay supposed to bat ahead of Jason Bay? Kotsay's highest two seasons of OPS were 829 and 811. By comparison, Bay's lowest two are 745 and this season's 894. 894!

QUOTE
Francona said he's taking a lot of grief from both Pedroia and David Ortiz over the lineup, Pedroia who keeps saying, "It's about time" and Ortiz, who jokingly said he will retire.

Fans should give the little big man a Standing O for this. I hope the dugout rags him bigtime

-- Kevin Youkilis is out of the starting lineup because of sickness, pitcher Josh Beckett is sick and outfielder Coco Crsip, who was scratched from Friday night's starting lineup because of flu-like symptoms, is still sick.

They've been hit with the flu bug hard this year.

Do we have a report on how many youngsters Pedroia made happy with souvenirs?

thanks for spreading that flu around coco. you suck even when you are not in the lineup.
Obscure Name
I blame Cora.

I swear to god these guys french kiss in the back of the plane on trips. They have multi-player illnesses more than any team on earth.

edit: or maybe they share the same groupies.
Pearl Wilson
Watney said they weren't sure if it was flu or food poisoning. Of course, that does not let Cora off the hook.

Does she show evidence of a cold sore; need to know whether Ted is coming down with something
normstalls
The Rays are unreal. That lineup is so average, yet they continue to score enough runs to win every night.

Live from New York it's... Instant Replay!

Yup

QUOTE
The Yankees had a chance in the ninth, putting runners on first and second with no outs off closer B.J. Ryan. But struggling slugger Alex Rodriguez grounded to third base and Bautista stepped on the bag, then fired across the diamond to get A-Rod by a step. Cody Ransom then flew out to finish Ryan’s 25th save.

Might be bird flu from China brought back from those who attended the Olympics. Cough, Cough.

I suppose Batting Bay 4th would cause the universe to implode in on itself, and Tito is only doing what he can to protect us all.

The placement of these two posts seems rather poignant.

When was the last time a team had only two guys available on the bench -- and they were both catchers?

The last time ARod and Jeter were given the same day off?
glennhoffmania
Funky delivery.
glennhoffmania
Send him back down.

I'm hoping he gets past the jitters quickly. He was all over the place in the first AB.
glennhoffmania
OK he can stay.
Pearl Wilson
There we go, that helps.
Sparky Lyle
Bizarre. But nice for the kid.
cwright
not sure why Bowden didn't just take it to first himself.
In any case, that's a nice start.
cwright
That fastball looks straight as an arrow.
TheYellowDart5
Squeezed on the 1-2.
Sparky Lyle
Oohh, ump. Close.

Anyone seen a changeup yet?
