Hey, how about a win tonight? A nice, simple easy win from the ace of the staff. How about it Josh?
educatedcheese
Put. It. On. The. Board.

Yes.
Foulkey Reese
Remember when Beckett was our stopper?

Let's do that again.

Oil Can's Liver

so if the Red Sox lose what happens to you?

3. Kevin Youkilis, 1B
4. Mike Lowell, 3B
5. Jason Bay, LF
6. J.D. Drew, DH
7. Jed Lowrie, SS

Might as well of started Cora at SS to make it the weakest hitting Sox lineup in a decade....

Any stated reason as to why Papi gets a day off? Not that he doesn't look like he needs one.

Also, not to be picky but there's 2 CF in the lineup.

WTF is Coco (and his .304 OBP) doing leading off?
Andrew
Why is Ortiz getting a day off before Lowell?

Jut a cut-and-paste from Extra Bases...so I don't actually know who is playing CF and who is playing RF...I suspect that Ellsbury is in RF.

No word yet on the reason for Ortiz's respite.

Well, at least Lowell did hit a 3R HR yesterday, so I guess Papi moved ahead on the "needs rest" list. I think Ellsbury should have been leading off instead of Coco, I know Tito's hand was "forced" yesterday but if he had to choose between Ellsbury and Coco for leadoff Ellsbury was a better choice. Drew hitting 6th I don't like.

I'm guessing it's because Danks is a lefty and Crisp hits from the right side, too.
normstalls
when almost the whole team is hitting poorly, playing tired and or beat up you kinda gotta pick and choose.
I think tito did a fine job with this lineup consideing a tough lefty is throwing for white sox.

Beckett really needs to step up.
Rooster Crows
Bring it, tonight, Beckett - you really need this series split, then you can regroup back at home. Lead the way to a big ass-kicking - give Ozzie something to rant about.

GO SOX - WIN TODAY!
Foulkey Reese
I wonder if Lowell would still be batting 4th had he not hit that HR yesterday.

Coco Crisp, CF

Mike Lowell, 3B

gaping hole that begs for Mark Teixeira next season

Jason Bay, LF
J.D. Drew, DH
Jed Lowrie, SS
Jason Varitek, C
Jacoby Ellsbury, RF

So this means Tito will be willing to play small ball to create runs with the speed of Coco and Ellsbury, right? Right??

Be the man tonight Josh. Not the 20 fastballs in a row hombre but just "the man." Win Tonight.

First, it's "well HAVE," or "well've," and second, check those lineups in late August/early September 2006 if you want to see some truly disgusting lineups.

I may not be a smart man, but ...
Andrew
So, why not play Drew in the field and DH Sean Casey? Or DH Lowell with Youkilis sliding and Casey at first? I just hate, hate line ups that have two weak hitting CFers.

Anyone understand the line-up?

Anyone?

Well, Danks is a LHP, and the only lefty in the lineup is Drew. Danks has an odd platoon split:

RHH: 242/287/378
LHH: 266/327/338

Similar OPS, but when righties hit him, they hit him hard.

Perhaps you missed the Jimy Williams years:

July 23, 2000, for example. (warning: may cause loss of appetite)
Lewis CF
Daubach 1B
Garciaparra SS
Sprague 3B
O'Leary LF
Alcantara DH
Varitek C
Gilkey RF
Alexander 2B

They totalled 1 run on 5 hits against the immortal Mike Sirotka.
