dead men tell no tales!

This Lester fellow pitched alright the last time. How about a repeat performance?
koufax32
Our hottest pitcher is going against a team that only has power from the left side. They are also a team whose lineup must put the ball on the ground in order to be successful. Our pitcher is mostly a flyball guy. They don't mind expanding the zone and Lester would be more than willing to comply. This game goes past the reverse lock category and becomes a reverse reverse lock. We got this one boys...but just in case, win.

You bent the game thread rules a bit Corsi and you got the win. I wholeheartedly support your campaign.

Tonight would be a good night to shake things up a big and get Brandon Moss in there.

Jon Lester of 2008 is a groundball pitcher.

I think he is just saying the Morneau is really nothing more than a AAAA-type talent. Jeff Bailey is his equal.

How is this even remotely possible?

You guys won't have Jason Varitek to push around tonight. Cash Money behind the dish.

I don't know if Lugo is man enough to take 100% of the abuse. Lord help him.

hmm. At .301/.373/.485, I'd take him on my team. Only Youkilis and Giambi have higher on-base percentages as AL 1B, and only Huff, Youkilis, and Giambi have higher slugging percentages. (And of course Youkilis hasn't started his patented slide yet.) I like Jeff Bailey a lot, but I don't think he'd put up those kinds of numbers.

edit: read one number wrong

Clearly you have never cubically transformed Jeff Bailey's MLE stat line, or you wouldn't even be asking that question. You're also not taking into account his quick hands or calm eyes. Point, Bailey.
Foulkey Reese
I can't wait for Tek to pinch hit for Lugo with the bases loaded and 1 out in the bottom of the 9th tonight.

Amen. Bailey2.50.

2.50 being his projected career SLG.

Quite true, my bad. I also forgot the Roberto Petagine Rule, which dictates that career minor leaguers who are Sox property just haven't gotten the breaks; whereas career minor leaguers (or those too old for the level they're playing in) with other organizations would never be solid major league players.

Oh, how I loved The Great Petagine Debate of '05. His wife is pushing 90, I think.

Theo should thank god that they got some offense from Cash in the beginning of the season and just cut him at the all star break.

At this point I'd be thrilled if Dusty Brown is rushed to Fenway with a police convoy and paraded onto the field just in the nick of time.

I like to think that in baseball, these kinds of issues have a way of working themselves out. Hopefully, tonight, Cash ropes a double down the line and pulls a hammy rounding 1st base and Brown/Kottaras gets the call up. Sucks for Cash but we HAVE to see what these other bodies (in the system) can do.

Our best lineup in ages
Joe Shlabotnick
What scares me more than anything is that the Tito day off rotation has got to be close to getting to Pedroia. And the policy provides for no substitutions.

Edited by Shlabotnick for omission.
Number45forever
Yes, this lineup is a little better. Why is Sean Casey still rotting away on the bench? Manny has to be able to play LF by now, he's been running fine lately. Put Manny in left and let Casey get 3-4 starts in a row. It's time to spark the offense!

Can anyone explain how they can win a World Series and break the record for consecutive posteason games scoring 10 runs or more with Pedroia and Youkilis leading off 1-2, and then not give that lineup a chance now, especially with Ellsbury struggling? I think Ellsbury's speed out of the nine spot infront of Pedroia and Youk would work brilliantly and maybe give Jacoby the dreamboat a little stress relief. This just makes too much sense to me, I can't understand why no one is mentioning this.

Do it! NOW!

Maybe its good to sit him a little bit every now and then. Every time they do, he seems to feel the heat and bust out for a couple games the next time he is in there.

Pedal to the metal, offense - bring it for Jon tonight. Jon - Kick some Twinky ass. Keep the pressure on, while hopefully (yes, that's my vote), the MFYs can put some pressure on the Rays.

2007: .271/.309/.496

is probably why. His career splits vs lefties is much better than vs righties. Probably a fluke this year.

Yea that's what I thought until I saw his 06' numbers. His splits seem to reverse every year. Odd.
