The Name section of today's Boston Globe had an item noting that Kevin Youkilis and his brother Scott have purchased the Los Gatos Brewing Company in Los Gatos, CA and will open a new brew pub focusing on "simple California comfort food with a twist." Scott owns the Hog & Rocks ham and oyster bar in San Francisco.

Order the Greek God of Walks Salad.  I hear it's underappreciated but pretty good.

Scott was also co-owner of Maverick in the Mission, which was felled by a fire and has yet to re-open. Great little restaurant, sold lots of Youks hot sauce.
Hog & Rocks is really fun, too.

Oh man, I loved Maverick.

I think he also has a barbecue restaurant that's opened since I moved. At any rate, he's a hell of a chef. This place should do well.

Twist = every burger, sandwich, and entree will come with a hot towel treatment to remove excess sweat.

Any clue where it'll be?  Hogs and Rocks is in the midst of shiteloads of hipsters not far from Dave Eggars' 826 Valencia.  Great restaurants, coffee, beer, etc. all close by - along with Nate Silver's 538 contest winner for Best Burrito in the US - La Taqueria on Mission Street.  Just ate there on Tuesday and it lives up to the hype.  Anyway, I'd be surprised if this new restaurant ended up there too, as my first guess would be something by the ballpark.

My bad.  Thought they bought the Brewing Company and were going to spin off a brew pub.  SF is the glamor spot of the peninsula so it seemed natural to expand the brand.

I know Scott and he is a tremendous chef and a really great guy. This might be the one restaurant owned by a former ballplayer that makes great food, and is worth visiting again and again.
