Sad day indeed. Just thinking about how much money these guys make and the lack of ability to make good decisions. I'm not here to judge but JoFer and Ventura dying could have been prevented by making better decisions. No one wins.

I gotta say, we're gettin really good at not wasting any time getting to the bottom of whether these poor, frustrating children threw their lives away senselessly and did this to themselves.

We're getting old, immediately saying 'young people these days' after something tragic is almost reflex.

I liked today's new spin though. "I'm not here to judge, but" now I'm going to judge.

Going back to his home country. If the crime doesn't get you, vehicles will

Sometimes, you just have to cut ties with your old hood. I can't go back to the town I grew up in without a good chance of coming home in a body bag. It was the town next to Brentwood on Long Island, where gangs have taken over and even killing teens now.

The guy was set to make 20 million dollars. I know he probably misses his family, but I moved 700 miles away from mine, they might as well be on Mars. I use Skype. It's safe and cheap.

This isn't like this is a first time thing, Oscar Tavera, Jose Uribe, Andújar Cedeño,William Suero . Volquez lost his brother to murder just last week.

Ventura was a punk and he pissed me off. What a dick. I was looking forward to ten more years of this talented asshole. This sucks.

When I saw this yesterday, I wondered if any of the coverage would deal with Ventura's personality and his tendency to hit opposing batters and cause trouble. Well, the first time I tuned in mlbn, that's what they were talking about, very delicately and very sensitively. Basically, they said that Ventura was like a troublesome, hot-headed brother to his teammates: they loved him, but they also knew he got them hit a lot, and that caused tension in the family/clubhouse.

He got bad coverage because he is Dominican. Madison Bumgarner is an even bigger hot head and everyone thinks it's cute when he throws at someone or stares at Joe West for an entire inning.

This sucks. Dominican fireballing pitchers with cojones are the best. RIP.

I think this is a solid plan. Anyone who makes money should just avoid going back to the downtrodden places they grew up. It's safer for them that way, and it keeps them from having to see anything or anyone they're now too good for. Maybe then the poor places and people can just like wither away or kill themselves off, too. So long as the people with the good fastballs are safe.

You just solved the poverty problem in the US. Why didn't you run for office this cycle?

Saw an update that said there was no alcohol found on scene, so until toxicology comes back in a few weeks, there's nothing to say it was a factor. He was driving through a thick fog, and authorities think his tires went off the road and he may have overcorrected. He was not wearing a seatbelt. Some are saying speed may have been a factor, but his mother said that he was cautious about that after his friend Tavares died.

That's terrible if true and I hope it isn't but it wouldn't shock me. My mother is always worried when she makes her annual trip back to the DR and let's me know where she has money incase "anything happens to her."

Video of Pedro and Cano (but mostly Pedro) holding court talking about life after the deaths of Marte and Escobar. He mentions Taveras as well.

EDIT: He talks about how he doesn't drive anymore - he has a Ferrari and hasn't driven it in 2 years. Right before there is a big laugh in the room he says Cano is always driven around and has big security details. The joke was him asking Cano if he should call Danilo (President of the DR) to get him 50 more men.
