Ok side issue. Can we PLEASE stop treating GBA like the National Anthem ? It isn't. No standing. No hand over heart. That's all jingoistic crap. Take Me Out to the Ball Game is just fine.

Thanks.

I blame Steinbrenner.

Nice move by Bochy, bringing in the backup catcher so that he can get a WS at-bat

Peavy's start was the shortest of any non-injured player since Mark Thurmond went one-third of an inning in Game 5 of the 1984 World Series.

Do you mean '01, Yankees @ Diamondbacks?  That's definitely what I'm thinking of.

Wouldn't mind a finish akin to that one (although to be fair that capped off the best World Series maybe ever).

He must. 2000 didn't have a game 6

I've been tuning in and out of this WS, and keenly aware of Peavy's start tonight, but not following the game threads per usual ... Tonight is my son's birthday and it's been hectic and I'm finally just settling down to check box scores etc, and ... the Peavy clan picked out a box car prior?

Ah, well.  Game 7 :p   At least one last time this season we can say ... there's tomorrow.

That Giants fan in the deluxe seats behind the plate is still hanging in there, though he's definitely more subdued than he was in the early innings.

The only other Game 6 starter ever to get as few outs as Jake Peavy & give up as many runs & hits: Buck O'Brien of the 1912 Red Sox

Vogelsong lost at rock-paper-scissors-lizard-Spock to Lincecum for this inning of work

Jim Bowden predicts 5, followed by MadBum for 2, then the pen

Even 5 is going to be a stretch.  Hudson managed to go 5.2 in Game 3, but that was in SF.  When he's got to face Billy Butler instead of the pitcher's spot, things could get tough.   That said, the same goes for Guthrie, who went 5 IP without striking anyone out in Game 3.  Tomorrow night could be a pretty wild game.  It would be funny if this season of low scoring across baseball ended with a 9-8 Game 7.

Also, it's interesting that Bochy thinks enough of Lincecum that he didn't use him tonight.

Peavy got no favors from his relievers. His relievers let 5 inherited runs score in his 2 starts.

You should look at Hudson's and Peavy's career playoffs stats, FIP, XFIP, ZFIP, AFIP, QFIP, and compare, and kindly STFU.
1 win and 4 losses each.
