I had not caught that. Assassin-like and beautiful. Thank you for posting.
One thing i'd like to see going forward is the pitcher jumping into the catchers arms rather than the opposite.
how long until Opening Day
You gotta start the parade thread!
Chris Sale 170 lbs maybe bearing the brunt of Christian Vazquez, 200 lbs, maybe. Should be the other way around except Vaz would be like trying to catch a pterodactyl.
Anyone know who let out the "fuck yeah" during Cora's locker room speech that led to the champagne explosion? Would have thought Kelly but video seems to indicate otherwise.
Swihart might've dropped him.
Dear god... what about Sandy?
Yeah, I posted at the time that it reminded me of Tek jumping into Foulke's arms and the latter's knees have been no good ever since. Possibly just coincidence.
Mostly like your post, but I feel the opposite about the bolded. Last season was exhausting to me, even when the team was playing well it felt like kind of a slog at times. This season was energizing, and made me feel ten years younger just watching this incredible team play with so much passion, and so much energy, and so obviously loving each other and doing it for each other.
I blame Alex Cora for that. What a wonderful, wonderful hire.
Like others have said, it is difficult to match 2004, but, man, I really do think this is my favorite Red Sox team I have ever had the pleasure of watching play. And hopefully most of them will be back next year.
Can't wait until Truck Day.
100% agree with this.
There was a post after the 2004 World Series ended that read something like “I’d pay scalpers’ prices right now to watch this team play in a parking lot with a broomstick and duct tape.” My apologies to whoever posted that because I probably misquoted you, but I felt that way about the that team, and it’s exactly how I feel about this one.
That scene with the Killer B's running in from the outfield is just beautiful. I know I'm not the first to express this sentiment, but I could watch it for hours.
He'd have just blocked Sale into the dirt in front of him.
Condensed game 5 on mlbn now. It reminds me of how scary the second half of the first was and JDM losing the fly ball before the Turner AB in the third. That was a miracle inning and showed the kind of night Price would go on to have.
Finally getting through this whole thread while watching the replay on MLBN. What an unbelievable night. The Dodgers fans sitting around us couldn't have been nicer. While I had no doubt this team could win it, it was still surreal to be sitting in that stadium watching it all happen.
I didn't get to watch nearly as many games this year as I usually do. Thanks to all those here who mad eit possible to stay in tune with this team all yer.
Watching the condensed game on MLB this morning. How apropos that Sale brings Machado to his knee to end the game and the Series! Just as sweet the morning after. Wicked.
So I need some help, guys. Trying to figure out which jersey to purchase to mark this glorious occasion. I may end up with two but if I hypothetically only got one, Barnes with 2018 WS patch or Brasier with 2018 WS patch? I like going with less obvious choices.
Tilt. Get the Tilt jersey for sure.
I'd go Pearce or Kelly
I thought I read/heard somewhere that it was Vaz that blurted that out.
I suppose I can, but living out of town, I don't get to follow the parades as much.
Sandy can't jump anyway.
I need subtitles. Seriously.
who made that song?
edit: did a bit of research and found it: https://jamn945.iheart.com/alternat...mix-2018-champions/?__twitter_impression=true
It is done......
Thank you for your assistance.
Koji jumped into Ross’ arms in ‘13
God damn I love this team so much.
Why can't the 2019 season start right now?
I need to bookmark this, it will get a lot of use.
I love it. I may have to get one myself - in a season of amazing performances, remarkable acts of redemption and unlikely heroes, he is one of my favorites. They could have lost after the DS and I would still love him for that Sanchez AB. Tilt, who scratched and clawed his way back into the MLB, had absolutely no time for Gary Sanchez's douchebag antics and told him in no uncertain terms. Then he mowed that prick down. Beast.
The glorious denouement....
Catchers jumping on pitchers has been going on for a long time.
That's the one I always think of, Yogi and Larsen crotch to crotch.
Just a little context, I live in Germany, so the 8 pm EDT starts are 2 am for me. Exhausting from this stanpoint, but the better word is exhilarating.
My goodness...what an experience. It was great being in the building to see the Sox secure a World Series championship. Agree with the things everyone has been saying: there was no animosity from any of the Dodger fans around us. Though that may be less to do with their magnanimity and more to do with the large numbers of Sox supporters present plus their palpable anxiety about the game.
In terms of seeing a game like that, the best possible outcome was the Sox scoring ten runs in the top of the first and coasting the rest of the game. This was the second best option: an immediate lead, kept the opponents at bay for the middle innings, and then tacking on insurance runs in the last few innings. I was never comfortable (pre-2004 instincts die hard), but never got excessively worried. The closest moments:
This is absolutely right. Those are the two moments when things looked dicey, like the tide could turn. And Price buckled down and ended the threat. (Though I still can't believe Freese didn't try to score from third on the groundball to Xander. Might have ended up looking like Kinsler getting gunned down at the plate in game 3...but to not even try?)
An amazing experience that I'm lucky to have had. My parents have me beat on most famous game attended (they were at game 6 in '75), but I'll take a title game.
Consider yourself hollered at.
You magnificent sonofabitch. Thanks Leskanic! Made my day!!
Long time no speak Greels, but very cool to see your face again, and with that backdrop. Hope you and the family are doing well. Looks like you had a blast, very jealous.
Not for nothing, but that young man may be the bastard son of your avatar.
I just bought a $40 t-shirt with $10 shipping. $50 for a God damn t-shirt. Worth it. Damage Done!!!!
MLBN has the ninth inning coming up for those who want to see the ending again
The chyron just spoiled the ending.
These are important decisions and need to be made with caution, as you'll be living with your decision for some time.
Exhibit A: my dog Nava, who is 5 years old today.
Could you convince him to go by Nathan?
Dick's had free shipping when I bought stuff the other day.
Yeah, bad idea-- (thank you Joe D)
