One more win to go to reach the pinnacle. Give Sale Price some run support, and he will put you on his lanky frame and take you all the way there. Do damage. Be best.

Sale can still help get us there with some motivational speaking, and maybe a dominant ninth. The Price is right. In Cora we trust.

These games ending after midnight are hard.

    Let's close things out here!

Going to be epic when Eovaldi closes it out.

Please put Devers and Holt in the lineup. I don't care who is pitching.

As for the outfield, not sure who is hitting the worst, but 10D should be in the game.

This is funny, but I don't want to see any of that. I want to just see Sale for seven, Kelly, Braiser, Kimbrell and a good, old conventional ass kicking.

Hesitate to talk about this stuff before it actually happens, but this team will be unqualifiedly the best Red Sox team of all time if they win one more, right? Maybe 2nd at worst? And will be etched as among the best all-time seasons in MLB, yeah? Top 30? 20?

It's exciting to be so close (again!). A great team.

I want Sale to pitch a CGSO and win 10-0

I was thinking along the same lines.

Complete game win for Sale to close this out.

EDIT: Or Price (wouldn't count on a complete game, but let's close it out).

Almost have to wonder if JDM needs to sit. He seems more off than anyone. I hate to say that with them facing a LHP, but there's something clearly wrong with him. At least JBJ will provide awesome defense.

Win tonight-- note-- it's not required to wait until the 7th inning to score!

Also hoping this includes MM being up with 1 out in the bottom of the 9th, with said 10-0 lead. Sale hits MM in the kneecap and then get a GIDP on the next pitch.

Unless he is seriously injured, I can't imagine a world where Cora is benching JD in the deciding game of the WS. He's looked rough, but that just isn't happening.

Price starts tomorrow, Cora announces. Well.

Adds: If there’s a Game 6 Sale starts.

I like Price closing it out. Hell of a redemption story after all the shit he's gotten.

Price is gonna be fired up. Cora likes him in the "up 3-1, short rest, on the road, house money" game.

^ that and Sale is clearly not 100% and needs all the extended rest he can get right now

There may be some fear about Sale swinging the bat given his recent injury issues.

Price pitching great to close this out would be an awesome capper to this season and his postseason redemption story.

Everyone except Evoo, Erod, and Kelly should be available. Maybe Kelly as a ROOGY.

Hopefully Price for 1-7, Brasier for 8, and Porcello for 9

Porcello can cover an inning or two I imagine worst-case, he's not starting again this series

Price looks ready*, and it makes total sense sense now, with the Dodgers needing to run the table with AL rules looming for them in a best-case scenario. And an extra day of rest for Sale that realistically, our crew can afford.

Edit: *In my non-scientifically-based evaluation of his demeanor in the bullpen as tonight's tilt closed out, he looked ready to run back in there to close this one out if necessary. He is dialed in.

I wonder how stretched out he actually got tonight, after pitching yesterday? I don't know, I find it hard to not see this as simply a sign that Sale is not quite ready to roll, but hardly a gesture of strength.

I hope to hell it never comes to that, but I'd almost prefer Porcello start that game and have Eo available for a multi-inning stint ala Pedro in '99.

An inning tomorrow for Porcello wouldn't preclude a Game 7 start in any way. It doesn't matter though, because Price has this series wrapped up tomorrow I think.

Harold Reynolds (paraphrasing): "I love the idea of David Price pitching a 'National League game'. The flow is different. He knows how to handle that.". You know, because of all those National League teams he's pitched for. The same number as Sale (who Price was being compared to).

He is as dumb as a box of rocks.

I'm not saying that starting Price tomorrow is wrong, just that Harold Reynolds Logic is beyond imbecilic.

I think this is the right move. The pen has been heavily used in the last two games, and Price has a better chance of going deep than injury riddled Chris Sale. Let’s do this!

Notwithstanding his last start, Price is better in warm weather anyways.

Put him on the bump, and have Sale available if it’s a “go for the jugular” move again.

There are a lot of resources to deploy in going for the jugular. If the lineup can score some runs, this should be a win. If Cora starts Devers, Pearce and Brockstar, there will be runs.

Price has pitched 18 regular season games in NL parks while Sale has only pitched 12.

    You're still not wrong.

You know that scene in Garden State where Natalie Portman's character talks about the thrill of stringing words together in a way that no one could ever have strung them together before in all of human history? Your post is like that (in a good way).

If Price pitches well and gets another W, everyone else is playing for 2nd unless Pearce has another clutch HR or something.
