Puig doesn't bother me at all. When he's not playing against the Sox, I love watching him loving playing the game.

    Fuck Machado, though.

It'll be a full winter of rest unless he comes in in relief.

It sure looked that way. They were spitting on every close breaking ball.

Wonder how much keeping Price away from the cold of Fenway factors in to this decision? Sale seems to love the cold.

Price was great in Game 2. Doubt it has anything to do with that. I think it's as simple as giving Sale extra rest if a Game 6 is necessary.

I have to add to this, because it's so right. It's like no one has seen them come back all this season from deficits bigger than this and more hopeless than this Game 4. I mean, we've been blessed to see our team come back from a 3-0 deficit in a 7 game series (the only ones to do it), come back in an eerily similar situation to tonight in Game 2 of the 2013 ALCS (fortunately they had a better closer back then), and guys battle all season to win 108 games and smack down the next two best teams in the majors to them in a total of 9 games.

Yeah, they've had shitty moments at times this season, but don't you think with all they've accomplished that they deserve a lot more faith from the "smart" fanbase than they are getting lately? We all complain about shit that happens, and that's what the game threads are for, but it's like some of you have reverted to post-ALCS 2003 mode thinking they'll never win. We as a fanbase should be WAY beyond that at this point.

I didn't hear Cora's explanation for the Price start, but I wonder if it's with the plan to use him in the bullpen in games 6 and 7 if need be.

Honestly, how many professional teams out there could pull together a large enough contingent at this point to not make it embarrassing and cause Trump cancel the invite? What was the last team to go?

Even if its not intentional, and I have a hard time believing that with the number of times it happens, then he's the baseball equivalent of what I think they call in wrestling a 'bad worker'. Someone who is recklessly dangerous.

I want to step up and eat some crow. I have been very vocal in my hatred for Vazquez all post-season long, but the guy put up the best at-bats of the game prior to the 7th and I was actually disappointed when Cora PH for him. Gotta give him some credit.

He's rolling the dice just like Game 5 in the ALCS. They win, they're champs. They lose, they have two to play in Fenway.

I'm still pissed at him for not eating that ball, but then I think he's a free agent after this and it really doesn't matter as long as he doesn't play again because he'll be gone and an afterthought to this season.

That's right, so it's just the biggest comeback in a World Series game, not post-season.

who knows how this game goes if it was 3-0. does Hill even start?

as poorly as they played the first 24 innings in LA, I will just take the damn split and run right now, no more what-ifs.

So, I don’t want to overstate our contribution, but while the Sox were scuffling and they kept showing all these shitty Fox commercials, DDB Jr. and I decided we needed our commercials. The commercials that won the first 108 games.

So in the middle of the game we watched the extended version of Anna the Employee of the Year:

And Amica A Sixer Is Not A Home Run:

I guess Pearce, since nobody else sticks out. If Price pitches well tomorrow and wins, it’ll be him.

This is spot on. I’ve played for going on 45 years (baseball/softball) and never done/hardly seen that. The only time it really happens is when the first baseman struggles to find the base and puts his foot front edge. That wasn’t the case here and big leaguers do not make that “mistake “ once, let alone twice in a week. Dirty player. F that mf, as said by Mr. Yelich.

The same guy who fell off a cliff in June?

I mean, come on...this wasn't Mookie Betts coming in, it was Mitch Moreland. Same reason everyone was confused about Nunez in the ALCS. It's Nunez.

Just because it worked, doesn't mean it's not fair to question it.

And I was one of the people saying it's just 4 runs when Puig hit his bomb.

    Game Balls:

    1) Moreland: I thought he was toast and then he hits a Barry Bonds blast to RF to get this thing going. He was the catalyst and I’m a dipshit. Great job, Mitch.

    2) Pearce: Ridiculously clutch HR off Jansen and then the knockout punch an inning later. He’s been such a great addition.

    3) Eduardo: Left in batter too long but was nails and gave the team a chance to win. Really stepped up for the team.

    4) Holt: Walked in 7th to set up Moreland HR. Huge double in 9th to get everything going. He made me forget about Ian Kinsler.

    5) Devers: Huge hit to give team the lead and made a ridiculous play to rob Machado of potential double that could have given Dodgers 2nd and 3rd with 1 out down 9-6. This feels like a play that will be forgotten by some but it was incredible.

    6) Joe Kelly: Held the line to give team a chance to win it in the 9th. Has been absolute nails in the playoffs.

He was also blowing a bubble with his gum while running to first, so I really don't think any of us should try to get inside Manny Machado's head.

I still really want the Sox to win in 5 and have the MVP go to the only losing pitcher on the team. That would be very cool. That said, if Price pitches us to victory he'd be a pretty good choice. And when Pearce goes 7-7 tomorrow with 5 HR and 16 RBIs it will be hard to argue that he's also a fine choice.

I could quote 10 posts after the Puig HR, if you'd rather. I'm out. They're done. We're dead. Etc,etc.

I know it is just a game thread, but even after 19 to 8 we didn't have this many members giving up.

    Sad.

Funny. Madson has had a rough series - I think some here confused him with Brett Myers as the Phillies player who beat up his wife outside of Fenway back in 2006 - and it sucks for him. The guy has been put in spots he really isn't qualified for and it showed. I wont kill Roberts for it as his pen is as gassed as Cora's and its clear that the Dodgers have a worse overall selection of relievers than the Sox do.
