Eovaldi and DrewDawg tried their best to get us all the way there, but TBD will right this ship. We shall overcome, kumbaya, and all that, and fuck Kinsler.

I guess JBJ is due to sit, but could really still use him as JD's ankle is probably still bleh.

Kinsler is unmentionable right now..... do you dare start Mookie at 2nd?

    Start. Mookie. At. 2nd.

Plain and simple. The guy played 2nd for most of his career until AA ball. He knows the position. He can fucking play it.

    Start. Mookie. At. 2nd.

yikes. just checked on fangraphs the WPA for the Sox:

Mookie's 0-7 was the second worst for the Sox. X's 0-8 was the worst.

These guys have to do better.

This is the pendulum game. No mercy. I think this will be Pomeranz and we need Pomeranz to be very good.

Win this game and recapture the momentum.

What are the odds of that? Has a guy with a regular season ERA over 6.00 ever started a World Series game before?

I remember Al Nipper starting game 4 against the Mets in 1986 with an ERA of 5.38, which at the time was the worst ever. That didn't go too well for us.

The Sox are scoring in double figures tonight. Rich Hill is like 400 years old and once he gets chased in the top of the 3rd at least 2 crooked numbers will be on the board.

Win it for Fathers of 3 whose back is sore falling asleep on the couch during the 15th inning only to wake up to see the Dodgers win and is cantankerous this morning.

    Big night for Mookie

He will make a slight adjustment & have at least 2 extra base hits.

We got this but I’ll be scared silly plus my stress is driving my wife crazy. She says I shouldn’t be mad at Kinsler because he was doing the best he could. She just doesn’t get it. She simply thinks I’m insane and she’s been dealing with my fandom for 30 years.

2006 Jeff weaver had 5.76. That’s the worst since 1947 Hal Gregg had 5.87. That’s the worst since 1925 Alex Ferguson had 6.18.

So Pom would have the second highest regular season era of any pitcher to get a start in the World Series.

I haven't been a big advocate of Mookie at second, but I have a feeling that this is the game he starts there. Shake things up a little and put your best hitting lineup in there(in theory).
Maybe I want this only because I'm afraid that the alternate is Kinsler getting yet another start.

So, with Mookie's struggles at the plate does a switch to 2B hurt him even more offensively? He plays the outfield now - that's his natural position - I know he came up as a 2B. I'm just not sure I'd want him spending extra mental energy on his defense right now.

I get all the angst about the state of our pitching, but I’m still glad they play again later today so I don’t have to endure over 24 hours of hyperventilating punditry about the Dodgers “finding life,” “grabbing the momentum,” etc. Despite what some have said, last night only counted as one loss. It’s a new day (game-wise at least), and this team has proven its resilience.

This Sox team is hard to beat. 18 innings to get their one victory. Dodgers have to be saying WTF.

Does anyone know who's starting for the Sox tonight? E-Rod or Sale?

Kinsler really gave me the Mike Andrews '73 vibe. Downside of his career combined with every key play landing in his lap and going badly. No Charlie O to "fire" him mid Series, though.

I havent done a lot of reading this morning. Has Cora actually said this is a possibility? That would be the most OppositeCora thing I could think of. If the choice was Sale or Pomeranz, I could see the logic. But EdRo ought to be able to give them the requisite 4-5 innings+.

Since they were losing the majority of the night, I found it somewhat calming to think of the position that they’re in...
They just have to win 1 of 3 in LA and then 1 of 2 at home.

Obviously wrapping it up sooner is preferable, but the “worst case” to win equation is still in place. Although for my own sanity I sure hope they get the Win today.

Screw LA. It took 18 innings and a gaffe just for them to get a win.
Forget last night (this morning)...Score Runs..
    Win!!!

And then in 2029, he'll be watching the Sox on TV in the World Series, notice that Devers's right big toe is not properly aligned when he hits, and call the manager to let him know how to straighten out the veteran third sacker.

I woke up at 7 to drive to hours to a swim meet we were told started at 10. Oops, coach was wrong, it doesn't start until 12. She was the only one who got the fucking memo because everyone is here except for her.

    I blame Kinsler. Win.

After an epic 18 inning game with only 5 total runs scored, let's have an 11-9 slopfest where every pitcher looks like John Wasdin. The Sox are great at prevailing in slopfests. Eduardo Rodriguez starts, gives up 7 runs in 5+ innings, but gets the win. Lavangie goes behind Cora's back and makes sure Price, Porcello, Sale and Eovoldi never make it to the park... along with Kinsler.

I'm looking for Kinsler redemption tonight (ducking). We lost one game. We're up 2-1, this team has been nails all year. We win one in LA, we take it home in Boston. Duck Boats next week.

Cora said yesterday he wasn't ruling out Sale tonight. I'd be very surprised if it is.
I assume the Sox will piggyback EdRo and Pom. I also assume that Roberts will put his foot down and start some of his lefties.

Edit for clarity: I assume, as has been reported, that Roberts has started the "all righty" lineup based on front office input and he will buck them tonight.
