Hearing "Dirty Water" made me a little sad, last time we'll hear it in Fenway this year.

But it's a good kind of sad.

Eovaldi interviewed by Heidi. Eo’s a well spoken, good looking guy. Bring him back. Get it done, Theo.

7 of 9 PAs against lefties so far for Beni. He’s reached 5 of those 7 and he has scored 4 runs in the series.

I’d argue his 8 pitch walk against Ryu was the finest at bat of the game. He was overmatched and guessing. Ryu controlled the whole at bat. He had him all set up with that filthy hook. Beni hung in there and kept the line moving and got Ryu out of the game. JD deserves the credit but Beni facing mostly lefties and hanging in and setting the table and moving runners into scoring position has been amazing.

Bruce Cassidy is no slouch, either. He's doing good things with the Bruins. Probably not on the same level as the other three, though.

This is the plan. An added benefit is the wailing and gnashing of teeth would implode not just the SoSH server but melt down an entire server farm somewhere in rural Washington State.

    Alternate lyrics

On a bright evening at Fenway, cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of hot dogs, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the tunnel, I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew wide
I had to stop at Loge Row AA

    There Cora in the dugout;
I heard the Go Red Sox chant
And I was thinking to myself
'This could be heaven and this would be heaven
Then Cora lit up a candle and showed the players the way
There were voices down the concourse
I thought I heard them say
Welcome to the Friendly Park Fenway
Such a lovely place (such a lovely place)
    Such a lovely place
Plenty of room at the Friendly Park Fenway
Any time of year (any time of year) you can grab a tour heah

John's mind is Linda-twisted, he's got the corn futures
He's got a lot of pretty, pretty boys, that are true stars
How they dance on the diamond, sweet autumn sweat
The Red Sox dance to remember, their opponents dance to forget
    So we traded for Nathan
    Please bring another ring
We said, 'we haven't had that here since twenty-thirteen'
And still your buddy from high school is calling from LA,
Wakes you up in the middle of the night
    And you hear him say
    Please come to Southern California
Such a lovely place (such a lovely place)
    Such a lovely place
He's livin' it up in Southern California
With an extra guest room, (what a nice surprise), get on a red-eye
    Pitchers are dealing
    The red champagne on ice
And he said, 'I have an extra ticket for you, game four will be nice'

There should be a version of baseball where the score is irrelevant, but whichever team gets 27 outs on fewer pitches wins.

Harold thinks JD is hobbled enough to not start game 3. Sean Casey in so many words: you’re full of shit. Tape him up and hope too many balls don’t come his way,

Anyone else just have that self-aware "holy fuck, we're up 2-0 in the World Series" moment?

It's almost as if I sleepwalked my way to this point. This team is so goddamn good I think I started taking it all for granted.

It's still far from over, though. Continue to do work, gentlemen.

Still a little ways to go yet, but them being up 2-0 on the Dodgers isn't surprising. They've been the best team all year and dispatched the second and third best teams in baseball rather easily. I'm not predicting a sweep, but I wouldn't be shocked by that, either. This team is special and are a couple games away from cementing their place.

Same record as on April 11th (they won the next 2 games, if someone's interested).
And Joe Kelly had a nice outing in that game as well.

Same question today and back then: When will they play the good teams?

I watched in bed and my tablet was out of juice, so I couldn't follow the gamethread. I wonder if others were as appalled as I was by the mini-ads FOX is placing during the game. I found them distracting and infuriating. When I woke up in the middle of the night, mlbn was carrying their international broadcast. I have never been a fan of Vasgergian or Martinez, but that broadcast was so refreshing. All baseball, no interruptions. Another reason to move to Ireland? I guess those ads may work on some people, but I can't even remember the products, I was so annoyed by their presence in the middle of the game.
    Otherwise, nice game!

Not only that, but Vaz, Kinsler, and Leon are getting hits. And JBJ is getting hits consistently. The bullpen that was supposed to be a liability is just fine, and I'm even able to watch JoKe and Kimbrel without hyperventilating? What's going on?

Yes, I took note as well, seems like a new level of commercial intrusion. The screen gets filled more and more with boxes, crawls, logos and promos for new shows, and now mini-commercial breaks between commercial breaks. I was wondering what it does to the announcer's flow...these guys have to maintain a rhythm and flow, anticipating stuff so their punch lines will drop in. I'm not a big fan of Buck's but you can hear him setting himself up for a turn of events in the narrative he maintains, he's polished that way. It can't be easy having to shift out of that mode so we can bring you this word from Duracell, sheesh.

If a person were half asleep or paying half attention, they may think one of those split screen commercials meant it was between innings and miss a home run, a Benintendi, or Mookie or JBJ supercatch, or something. A 1-2-3 inning by Kimbrel even. “Can you believe it.”
