Just got home from the game and had to check out the game thread for this moment. I was in the stands bitching about this to my son and nephew when pretty much in a mid sentence rant about Nunez over Devers the ball was traveling over the wall. Fucking awesome.

Yup. At some crow on that one. Gutsy call going to a guy that was like 3/18 coming into that AB and hadnt looked pretty.

When does Kinsler make SoSH look silly??

Chances are higher he sees the field than Swihart

I mean, he had an .820 OPS in the ALDS. I get that he struggled mightily against the Astros, but they have a pretty good staff and it's not like he's mired in a months-long slump.

This is why the game thread managing cracks me up. There are just things we can't know.

Cora told Nunez hours before game to prepare to face lefty reliever in that exact type of spot. Nunez spent his time looking at tendencies of pitchers he could face and knew what Wood would want to throw. He knew he could look off-speed pitch. Got it. Crushed it.

I'm not sure why you say that since Bregman did nothing against the Sox all post-season. Of course that's because our outfielders were super great, but then, they still are.

If Bregman has that skill why did he end the ALCS going 0-10?

Agreed and I’m on your side dude, it really was just an exclamation of where the heck did that announcement come from based on what we last saw of him ages back. Of course they’re not going to waste a roster spot on a World Series team.

I couldn’t stay up for the game and couldn’t wait for the replay, but great start! Still a lot of baseball to be played yet
Please let game 4 end with Kimbrel hitting machado then turning a double play to win the series

Reynolds (ugh) had another good observation last night.

With Devers up and Bogaerts on 1B (Benintendi on 3B) - Bogaerts held up (or was held by the coach) after what I recall was a pitch in the dirt. That kept the 2B lane open for Devers, which is exactly where his hit went through. He thinks, as do I, that staying on 1B was intentional (not the least to avoid opening up an IBB to pitch to Kinsler).

    These are some smart guys.

Also - am I the only one who thinks LA fans must be livid at Smoltz for all the Boston Ballwashing?

My son was born the day before Game 6 in 2013 so he's 'seen' a Sox Championship. My poor 3 1/2 year old daughter has not, though.

    Win it for Julia!

Same, 2004 and 2007 babies. Dog was born in mid 2013. And we got a cat this past winter. Unfortunately we are at capacity now.

Wife was pregnant in '04 and '07 (kids born February '05 and January '06, respectively).

I was so happy when the Sox won in 2013, because I was starting to be afraid we were going to need to have another one in order for them to win again.

Then we got divorced a year later.

Kielty and Nunez have the same WS slash line: 1.000/1.000/4.000.

Nunez has seen twice as many WS pitches though.

Just get a plant every year. All you need is new life to carry the winning tradition.

My son was born on the day off between games 2 and 3 in ‘04. Travel day, Pedro’s birthday. My wife rocks.

It actually isn't. This is a common nickname for people named Enrique, which is his actual name (Ike - pronounced and/or spelled Ique - is another variation of it). If it makes you feel any better, the emphasis is supposed to be on the first syllable, but then that would result in the unfortunate spelling you bemoaned, so he likely added the accent over the e to avoid that.

"Yo! Nunie! You're playing tonight. Not until the eight inning or something, but still--be ready."

I love Cora and I love this team.
