Just win. I don't care how pretty, just win. Style points do not matter. Get runs early, get runs late.

Looking like it might be a bit damp towards the start, but nothing serious. Upper 40's. Get to Kershaw early. Make him uncomfortable. Let's go!

Sale-Kershaw is a pretty great matchup.

    Kill them.

30 years ago I was 14 kept score of game 1 of the '88 Series in my baseball notebook. I couldn't have rooted harder for the Dodgers as I hated the A's for obvious reasons. Thankfully Kirk Gibson delivered in spectacular fashion, eventually leading to an A's series defeat.

30 years later and there is a similar David vs Goliath feeling here, at least according to records - 1988 Dodgers 94-67 vs 104-58 A's / 2018 Dodgers 92-71 vs 108-54 Sox. As long as no one Hershiser's us I like our chances. I still have that baseball notebook and would love to close it out with a Sox victory 30 years later.

    WIN!

The anticipation is nearly over. No more prognostications, no more predictions or analysis over matchups, and no more narratives.

Tonight we finally play the fucking games. I don’t give a shit about the Dodgers’ pythag or how good Bellinger, Turner, and Puig are or how dominant Kershaw can be when he’s on. I don’t care that Jansen is throwing the ball like his old self either. They’re coming into our house and facing our ace. The Conductor is fixing to punch some tickets and get us started with a W. This Red Sox team is here to get four more victories and solidify themselves as the best in baseball.

    Let’s. Fucking. Go.

Why does this game have to start at 8? Let’s fucking go! Sale is 100 percent, runs on the board early and we dominate.

I cannot wait! This one feels so good. All Sale Days are special, this one is going to be legendary.

That said, this is the exact amount of mojo needed to win Game 1 of the World Series:

If you thought Houston had good CPAP technology, wait until you hear about the Dodgers set-up. Fearsome slugger Max Muncy was literally a 98 pound weakling before arriving in Dodgers land.

Oh, and let's get this out of the way - Cora already lost this series by starting some guys over some other guys. He will also stick too long with some pitchers and pull others too soon. WTF is he doing?

Also, some of the Sox hitters are going to make outs - they suck! And some pitchers will surrender runs - bums!

We should just resign ourselves to an L here and plan to reconvene for another attempt next spring.

With Pomeranz getting added to the roster does anyone think it’d be worth considering adding Eddie to the rotation and sliding Rick over to the pen full time? The Dodgers handle righties pretty well and Rick has been nails in his appearances out of the pen this October while having 1 good start and one dud. Rodriguez would start Game 4, Pomeranz becomes the situational lefty, and Porcello picks up a multi inning/relief ace role to take some of the weight off of Barnes’ and Brasier’s shoulders.

The only good thing about Los Angeles baseball was Vin Scully. Vin Scully is retired so there will be no little rollers up along first. The Dodgers have no hope as winter is coming.

    Sox win in 5.

Dodgers had the #2 team OPS this season vs RHP (.796, behind only the Red Sox at .817), but were only #13 vs LHP (.733), which I think speaks to the Pom vs Workman decision.

Pom has good #'s against the Dodgers except Grandal and Machado from his time at SD. Might be some lighting in that bottle.[IMG]

I mean sure but Pomeranz gave up a .894 OPS against this year and a .947(!!!) against RHH

Basically every RHH is Jose Ramirez against him.

Let’s try to keep him away from righties then. And no one is trying to argue that didn’t have an awful year but maybe he’s figured something out or at least can fake his way through a few lefties in this series should we need him to.

EdRo has not seen a lot of meaningful innings/batters against the Astros and the MFYs IIRC.
So I'm not sure how much confidence AC and his team have in him. I'm pretty sure we will see the same 4 starters in the WS as in ALDS and ALCS.

Plus: I want to see Rick at the plate!

I will be very curious to see how Sale is tonight. I'm trying to temper my expectations, since I kind of expected him to go full Bumgarner in the ALCS and he...didn't. But hopefully the time off got him strong and ready to go.

We could also use a really good offensive series from Mookie. It's kind of incredible that we've won two series against really good teams with Mookie being pretty meh at the plate.

After the game 1 ALCS loss, I dug deep into the wardrobe to find a shirt that would provide some mojo. This was the shirt chosen and I wore it for the rest of the ALCS. I will be in attendance with it on tonight.

    Win.

My brain exploded listening to EEI when I just went out to get lunch and a caller was saying Pom is on the roster only to hit Machado. Not to be outdone another caller asked if maybe it's because Pomeranz is a better hitting pitcher. Holy Christ, is it game time yet?

Everyone calm down in regards to Pomeranz. AC and Dave know what they’re doing and Pom made the roster because they think he can be of use to the Sox during the World Series. Let’s give them the benefit of the doubt that they’ve earned.
