Left my radio browser on at work and stumbled into the open of Felger and Mazz today. Instead of talking about the Celtics game, the Bruins with Bergeron injured and the trades, or the Red Sox they open with more bullcrap about a Gronk retirement.

What did he say?
Said that he’s spoken to “people” and that Gronk did not enjoy playing for the Patriots last season. While he was healthy and still dominant, it’s “wearing on him physically....mentally....the atmosphere here in New England”. This did not begin with the concussion. It began in training camp, he seriously considered walking away then, when the team “did not let him train the way he wanted to train. They were at lagerheads. He was pissed”. At the end of the season, some of the principal people on the team weren’t happy with the “atmosphere or climate”.

Peter King thinks he should try an interesting IPA.

Gronk's got a lot of miles on the tires. If wants to walk away while he still can, so be it. I'm sure there will be a lot of post hoc "if everything wasn't so miserable, then he'd play longer" stuff ("we told you BB was a loser"), but maybe it takes that sort of "misery" to play in (or for a shot at) the Super Bowl just about every single year. Its not like anyone else has done it lately.

I would much more readily slough this off if it wasn’t coming from Curran. If anything, I would expect guys like him and Reiss to paint all things Pats in much rosier colors. Not that either is a shill but both definitely tend toward the positive.

Today they read a Bedard article about Gronk doing a TD dance and then tooting his own horn about writing about Gronk's generally irritable demeanor during training camp. They read a whole bunch of it, really slowly, analyzing it line by line.

Than he read the article again 5 minutes later. Same pacing. I honestly thought I accidentally rewinded the show.

Can't remember the last time Felger and Mazz were both out for more than a day during a non-holiday. I was actually looking forward to a Felger rant about people being "wimps" during a snowstorm and how he was eating a bowl of soup while driving down Storrow Drive. We still have Big Jim to tell us how much he thinks Bill the GM sucks at his job.

Arcand looks nothing like I pictured him. Thought he would look more like Minihane or Meter based on his voice.

The Bruins postseason hype commercial is centered around Felger's comments about the team from earlier in the year.

"This is what I think the big issue with the team is. There's too many young guys. There's too many out there who are running around who don't know what they're doing.
I think the Bruins season is over. I think they're done. Too young - too, too young."

Pretty great content if you ask me: http://boston.cbslocal.com/2018/03/22/bruins-roast-michael-felger-video/

Felger and Mazz is the sports version of Glenn Beck in the Obama era -- a chalkboard of baseless conspiracy theories.

Nice of them to attack addicts yesterday. Murry and Felger calling them "soft" and Mazz going even further by saying Johnny Manziel is a "bi-polar asshole." Felger, the guy who covers his feet with napkins on Nantucket, calls Manziel, recovering alcoholic, "soft?" That's why you're ana ddict, according to Felger. Because you're soft.

But according to the Globe and guys like Chad Finn, Felger is on another plane of existance than everyone else. Media darling in this town. If anybody else said it, anybody on WEEI, the Globe and Deadspin and Finn would be all over it. Murray and Mazz don't have a fucking brain cell between the two of them, so it's to be expected. But....I actually like Felger on his own, or seperate from Mazz.

Anybody who is a recovering addict or knows someone who is, knows how much strength it takes to just get through one day without a relapse. So, honestly, fuck these guys for those comments. And fuck the "media watchdogs" for not even calling them to task. God knows if Minihane said it....

EDIT: Go ahead and call me a WEEI shill or accuse me of actually working for them. It's routine with most of you. Get it out of your system.

1. I did write about it. It's my Friday media column. 2. There are WEEI controversies I haven't written about -- such as Reimer. 3. This is practically verbatim of what Kirk said this morning. 4. It was more Murray than anyone else who was emphasizing the soft nonsense, though Felger and Mazz both said it. 5. Please learn to think for yourself. Taking your talking points from a sports radio show is soft.

If you worked for them, it would suggest you might be redeemable as a poster.

I mean, then at least you'd be getting paid, so there would be an explanation. This is much worse.

What is the worst affectation for an adult:

1. The one who thinks he is interesting because he has a snake wrapped around his neck? ("This little guy is like my son! I wuv him so much!")

2. The one who gets their entire sense of being from sports radio? ("When thinking is too hard, Kirk and Callahan does all the hard work for I!")

JMOH is right, you need a drink.
Given the context, these might be the two worst posts of the year. I expect better from a Mod, in particular.

Your posts usually suck, so nothing to see here.

Looking forward to seeing your collective justifications for publicly taunting someone in recovery.

Redeemable? Are you hearing yourself right now? Collectively, there's not a worse group of people I've ever encountered on the Internet then the people here.

Are you an alcoholic? It doesn't sound like it, based on you saying they're in your family instead of saying you are one. So why are you offended by his comment? My mother was an alcoholic, but I'm not, so I wouldn't take any offense with someone telling me to go have a drink - a common euphemism for "calm down".

What am I missing here?

And they're right, you should calm down. Felger is someone who crosses the line from time to time in pursuit of getting people to react. Yes, he's an asshole at times, and I can't stand the manufactured drama he's constantly trying to create, so I rarely listen to him. And he's a dead wrong asshole here too. But being an asshole isn't his entire act. Kirk Minihane's entire professional career is being an asshole. You can't listen to that show for 5 seconds without him being an asshole to someone. He's got nothing else in the toolbox.

And I can't stand the victimhood complex. Deadspin is in the can for Felger? Really? The site that called him a "radio Chud" and "Radio Doofus" is in the tank for Felger? Why? How? What? When?

V&N exists, but THOSE are the worst of the year? A glib joke by jmoh and half of a post by me?

Who’s taunting who in recovery? I don’t even know where that comes from?

C'mon, everyone here knows that John Dennis is a recovering alcoholic. I'm surprised he picked such a weird SoSH handle, though.

This is a tough one.

Will he let you play with the snake? I guess that technically doesn't make the affectation any worse, but at least it comes with some compensation for your exposure to it.

I think I have to go with the latter as worse. The former at least involves some responsibility that might yield some benefits down the road. Also: The snake might die.

It's kinda wild when a troglodyte actually finds himself on the side of the angels on an issue and immediately decides to try to bludgeon others with their newfound righteousness.

Like it's some kind of chit they can play and everyone should... what? I'm not actually totally sure what the win solutions in this particular game are. Little help, anyone?

Excellent thread hijack! The new place was outstanding. The entire outdoor structure, the lawn, the bar inside, and the can purchase model all worked well. The 800 person line was only about an hour wait so they are pretty efficient. I never saw the old place so I'm not sure of the comparison but I assume given how popular they are, the changes are very welcome.

I was thrilled with 4 cases plus a few cans. So thrilled, I mailed a case to myself and it was at my house when I returned on Monday.

I usually agree with just about everything you post as I’m a huge Kirk fan. This post has convinced me that either A.) you are Kirk or B.) Kirk is going to soon be kidnapped soon so you can hold him all day and pat his hair.

Literally used Kirks words verbatim as your own, strange!!!
