Yea and Pat Kane is like a warm fuzzy teddy bear on skates.

Sorry this is over, wish it was best of 9. Amazing hockey.
Kane is a douche off the ice from the sounds of it, very true.

Richards is a douche on the ice, although it doesn't seem as much so of late

I bet they wanted Chicago a lot more.
ratings in the LA market have apparently not been good while Chicago's have been very good so I would think you're correct. Plus two original six teams.

Holy shit you aren't kidding.  This is one outstanding interview.

Crap, I think NBCSN just gave up on him.

The marketability of Chicago is also huge too between Kane and Toews. NY really only has Lundqvist and I guess LA has Quick and Doughty but that's still a pretty weak crew all around from a marketing perspective.

I have a question.... how bad was the play by Leddy on the game winner?

As LA was coming into the zone, his stick got slashed out of his hands.  While the puck was still behind the net, controlled by the Kings, he stopped to pick it up, and because of that was still trying to get into position when the shot was taken, which obviously deflected off of him and into the net.

I only ask, because I don't normally see players reach down to pick up their stick in the defensive zone, and I assumed that positioning was the biggest reason.  Does anyone else think maybe he should have left it on the ice?

A defenseman is more or less useless without a stick down low (clearing the puck, clearing guys in front, lifting sticks, etc.), which is why you'll see forwards hand their sticks to dmen when they break in the dzone. I need to rewatch the play to give a better idea but from your description it seems like the smart play.

Ok, I was honestly curious.  I think the big thing to me was that he was still trying to get back into position for the shot, and I felt like that had a lot to do with it deflecting off of him as weirdly as it did.

Now, whether or not a slash should have been called...

Record #'s for game 7

The Los Angeles Kings and Chicago Blackhawks finished a series for the ages in fitting fashion Sunday night. A fluke goal in an overtime ended the series on a heartbreaking note. The seventh game between the second and third largest markets was a big hit.
Game 7 drew a 3.17 overnight rating for NBCSN, the highest ever for an NHL game on the network. While NBCSN has only been around since 2012, that also counts the histories of VERSUS and OLN. That means the game drew higher ratings than every Stanley Cup Final game on cable going back to at least 2006.
Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this comes from the local markets. Both Chicago (22.7!) and Los Angeles (4.8) drew record ratings on NBCSN. Now, don’t forget, Los Angeles has played two Stanley Cup Final games on NBCSN, while Chicago has played four, so Game 7 out-rated all of them in those markets.
Other top 10 markets for NBCSN: Buffalo (which, due to its size, finished ahead of LA), Minneapolis, Boston, San Diego, Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, New York and Providence. New York, who’s Rangers await the Kings in the Stanley Cup Final, drew a 3.7 rating. That’s a record for any game not featuring the Rangers, Devils or Islanders.
Game 7′s numbers give hope that viewers might stick around for the Stanley Cup Final. This is a small-scale key moment for the NHL. Setting a huge record, and owning the night on cable is another big step for them on television.
