Lot of special teams time but the Blues-Hawks game is fantastic. 0-0 5 minutes into the third. Blues need this one given Keith is returning for Game 2.

Well a garbage call right back at Minnesota so I guess they're even?

I can't cheer for Lucic anymore. Loved him when he was with the B's but he was Jekyll and Hyde in the postseason and I just got annoyed he was on the ice for the Kings.

Drew Doughty also has a droopy lip because of missing teeth. It looks weird.

Trevor Lewis with an absolute snipe for a shorthanded goal to put the Kings up 3-2, late in the <double checks the TV> 2nd period.

Put him in a ratty, Goodwill-special suit, and DeBoer would look like the prototypical hobo.

It's officially nutty time in that game, by the way. Kings go up 3-2, Sharks respond immediately.

Awful goaltending/defense?

Edit: Seriously though, if you're a dman and the guy gets inside position on you behind the net, you hack the shit out of him to drive him into the corner (works sometimes, most often not), hope your goalie has his paddle down and out on the post for a poke or to send him to the high crease, or your d-partner/center is helping out. Combo of all of the above is most successful, specifically the poke and help side defense.

Doughty didn't help, didn't see Kopitar, and Quick was not, um, quick to the post.

The offsides review has got to go. This is asinine it had nothing to do with the actual play.

Yep. Dumb.

I think this one is coming back.

Edit: Also, I guess the networks don't have access to the blue line camera's. And if it's taking this long than clearly it should be inconclusive.

Yep, I hate hate hate offsides review. It offsets all of the other good rule changes they have made recently by itself.

This rule has honestly ruined hockey for me. That is absolute horseshit.

Blackhawks are a charmed team. I did not like the last 6 minutes of that game at all. With the Bruins out, I want upsets all over the bracket, I want chaos and expectations defied—as mine were—everywhere. It's big of me, I know, and befits the temperament of a man in his fifth decade.

That was a pretty classic Blues playoff loss. So frustrating to see a 3-goal swing happen with a review that may not have been available during the regular season. Oh well, they weren't going to sweep Chicago. Get them on the road.

Can someone explain the second review after the league review? Does the league not look at every aspect of the play? Is a ref really going to change a call after the league rules one way?

I think the league was looking to see if it was a legal goal (i.e. did it actually go in? Was it kicked? etc.)

The review after was for goalie interference, challenge by the team.

I was under the impression that a goal can be scored when the net was off if it was intentionally knocked off. It was a bizarre play, and there was no explanation, but I thought they got the call right.

I think it's a goal. He wasn't kicking it in the net. The goalie put it in. It's the same as if you kicked it to the goalie and he shot it in his own net trying to clear it. It's fluky but a good goal IMO.

Doesn't the puck only go in the net because it gave way while Dubnyk was backing up? If the net holds, he probably pins it to the crossbar with his neck or it trickles off of his shoulder..

Breakaway nets obviously aren't new, but shouldn't the refs interpret a play as if the net is still in the correct place? I would think particularly in this case because it was originally ruled no goal.
