We were re-watching a DVD from a old TV series though the OPPO DVD player connected to our flat screen this evening when up popped a a message bar across the top of the screen, saying, "2421 4018 Enter the PIN# for your mobile device (iPhone). Cancel."

The Samsung tv set is connected to the internet through Comcast and it supports a variety of apps like Amazon. Neither of our cell phones showed any activity when this happened but we do have a landline through Comcast but it did not ring.

    Does anyone have an explanation?

I think it was trying to set up your phone as a remote control. If you don't have an Iphone, I have no clue.

Do you live in an apartment building, or townhouse, or something with nearby neighbors? Perhaps someone was trying to pair their phone with their TV, and selected the wrong one (yours) from the list?

Yes, I live in a large apartment building, so that could be the answer (that never crossed my mind but there are about ten networks that appear when I turn on the wi-fi for my Kindle). And to answer the other question, we have Android phones.

    Thanks all.
