The annual shoot out between Baylor and West Virginia has started.  7-7 about halfway through the first.  Baylor down in the red zone. Over/Under was 81 for  this game.

So, in the Baylor game, Baylor just scored a touchdown on a long pass play.  During the play, there was a crack back block by one of the Baylor WR's, and it was flagged for targeting and he was ejected.  During the review, the penalty was overturned, and he was un-ejected.  I didn't realize they had changed the rule that the review could wipe out the ejection AND the penalty.  The guys were saying that this rule was changed last year, but I swear I've seen a number of times this year where the targeting call was overturned, and the ejection was overturned, but the penalty had to stand.  When did the rule change to allow the replay official to also overturn the penalty?

End result of this was the flag was picked up, player not ejected and touchdown stands.  Which is how it should have been, IMO.  I'm just glad the NCAA got this right and fixed the rule, but I swear that this change must have been recent because I know I've heard discussion this season about how it sucks that the penalty always has to stand even if the call was overturned on replay.

Thanks.  That's so strange. I swear I've seen games this year where they overturned the targeting, but the penalty stood.  I'm losing it.

Wow that WVU kicker is good. Gotta be good if the wideouts let the kicker wear a number in the 80s
In college, it just pays to be friends with the equipment manager. I ended up with #8 for my last two years.

Petty injured on a Fin dirty West Virginia play.

Petty was jogging sideways clearly about to step out of bounds or perhaps already stepping on the line.  The WV Db came flying in dove full body at his knees.  Clear intent to injure

Whole bunch of great games going right now.  South Florida/Tulsa at 30-28, big comeback by USF.  Baylor/WV 27-20, KState/Oklahoma 31-30, Maryland/Iowa 24-21, Purdue/Minn. 38-36, Western Kentucky/FL Atl. 38-31.  Just awesome slate of early games.  Hope the rest of the day continues like this.  WHAT DO I WATCH????

HOLY CRAP USF with another TD, this on a long catch and run. this game went from 24-7 Tulsa to 35-30 USF in a little more than a quarter. They are a completely different team with WR Andre Davis, who was out for four games this season.

I've got KState/Oklahoma on the TV and WVU/Baylor and USF/Tulsa on the laptop

Following a DPI in the endzone, West Virginia has stuffed Baylor on three straight plays.

They lined up offsides on the third, however, and Baylor gets another shot.

The one bad thing with all these plays is it distorts how many penalties there are.

Even still, Baylor has almost 200 yards in penalties.

Hmm, Baylor with a tying TD on a great run, and the officials get it wrong on the field.   Let's see if replay will get the right call

One of the quicker reviews ever and they get the TD call right

The refs just completely missed a call in the Baylor game.  They ended up getting it right, so Baylor got the TD, but how the fuck does the TV crew not have a goalline view from both sides of the field?  They were lucky that one of the views from behind the QB showed the play clearly, but the goal line view they had was obscured and they didn't have one from the other side, which would have been definitive.

The same thing happened yesterday in the Temple game and may have cost Temple the game.  In that game,  Temple was down 17-10, and drove down to the 1, and the runner got hit and fumbled near the goal line. Ball went into the end zone and was called a touchback, but it was pretty clear the runner was down before the fumble, but they only had a view from one side of the field, so there wasn't conclusive evidence.  Instead of tying up the game, they lost the ball, and then the momentum completely changed, and they gave up a couple td's thereafter.  Get some cameras out there.

Holy shit.  Oklahoma just gets stuffed at the goal line, and the kicker just hooked the shit out of a 19 yard field goal, and missed it.  Oklahoma still down 1 because of the blocked PAT a couple minutes ago.

A call?

Yeah, they called the Baylor runner down short of the goal line, when it was clearly a touchdown.  His knees and elbow never touched.

Big 12 may not be the best football conference,  but it may well be the most fun conference to watch on a weekly basis

A lot of speed and talent, a lot of good teams,  a lot of great offenses and no one plays D

Oklahoma is going to go down, barring a complete miracle.  No timeouts left, 1:46 to go, KState ball on 2nd down.  2 missed field goals and a blocked PAT and they are going to lose by 1.  The amazing part is that they have one of the best kickers in the country.

And now it's over.  First down Kansas State.  Wow.

You know, it's weird -- he makes a high percentage of his attempts but is actually a pretty awful kicker. Every one of his kicks is a duck and he barely has a D1 leg -- he's made two kicks over 45 yards in 4 years. He's also now missed 5 or 6 PATs in four years, which is pretty bad.

Mountaineers are on fire. Stuffing the run. Up 14, under 7:00 to play.

EDIT - HUGE drop on the bomb down the right sideline. You've GOT to make that catch.

A week after the Rivalry, never surprising IMO.

I don't think the Big12 is out. Kstate has one loss, to Auburn. TCU has one loss, to Baylor, by 3.

No way TCU makes it. no chance. KState maybe but only if auburn has two losses. But if they have two losses, then the loss doesn't look so good. KState-Baylor play, right?

I have no idea how they can choose four teams this year. Be awesome if FSU loses to ND, who then loses to some mediocre team

Also OKst has one loss, to FSU. Oklahoma is out with a loss here, Baylor is probably out unless they win this, because of their crappy non-conference schedule: Buffalo SMU, FCS N'western St.

But yeah, this year might make the case for the 8team playoff right away. Which would be awesome
