Brady saves the day. Great kick by Ghost.
First 43-40 final in NFL history.
Those who didnt see it, Tom just said look into my eyes, you played great Pat
Not with the Rams still playing
The Rams would like a word with you
They’ll need some help to avoid having to go to Arrowhead in January
Great game. Still some things to clean up for sure, but I expect the offense is going to be humming like crazy through the second half. Defense, we’ll see, but aside from the Rams this is the best collection of weapons they’ll see, and they held up really well in the first half before dealing with some short fields and some big blown plays.
Rams still unbeaten.
Edit: Way too slow.
Tyreek Hill pulled a Ricky Proehl. Scored too soon.
See you again in the AFC Championship game.
Never a doubt
I don't want to play them again.
KC made some great adjustments and destroyed our defense the second half, but a win's a win.
Whatever the outcome, these two young QBs are pretty good.
I like to think Gronk has enough sober brain cells remaining to know to go oob there.
Aren’t the Rams still undefeated?
Edit: way, way too slow.
If he was smart like Brian Westbrook he would've let Gronk score after he caught it.
I seem to recall the Eagles managing a pass rush on exactly one play of the game
In a battle of shaky defenses theirs shook last. The problem is theirs did this for the first time all year, ours has been a bowl of Jell-o for two plus years.
Baltimore is sneaky-good, but if you want to play in the Super Bowl, you’ve probably got to beat the Chiefs again.
See, Harmon was coached great to let Hill go! <silver lining>
I'd give Gronk a 30% chance of not running into the end zone to do his trademark move. No way is it anywhere close to a favored proposition.
That was a satisfying motherfucking night of evening sports entertainment.
Not yet. The Rams.
Whoever goes to Arrowhead in the DIvisional round will beat the Chiefs. If the Pats are fortunate they'll be the beneficiaries and host the AFGCG.
Was there a punt in this game?
The Chiefs defense is last in the league in yards allowed. This game is not helping that rating.
KC had one.
Anyone know how many losses the Rams have?
Yep this weekend, after last night, had the potential to be a disaster but it turned out pretty damned good.
KC had one late. JMac could have picked the third down pass and then there wouldn't have been.
I think maybe seeing this tonight will be the impetus to realize the advantage of being able to pop it right to the 1 is now lost with the rule changes.
Holy shit these postgame interviews are all about Mahomes.
Everyone in my bar yelled “Gronky Tonk Man!”
Deadspin article about Donte Hightower with upside down NFL shield on headband during post game interview in 3,2,1...
I forgot about the Rams. I live in LA.
I think the Pats had 500 yards of offense, so yeah, their numbers actually got worse today.
The Chiefs have given up points like crazy all year.
Well said. I’m not going to sleep anytime soon.
Another brilliant idea which will be credited to Doug Pederson
My brand is normally the "defense doom and gloom" guy, but the defense didn't play nearly as bad as the score suggests. Seven points were on the kickoff and the O cost 3-4 points on the Brady fumble. The D also got the big INT that set up the O at the 4 (which is like giving the offense 7 points). All-in-all, the performance was probably equivalent to giving up like 27 or something, which I'll take against the Chiefs team. It looks a lot worse (and there were a couple ugly, ugly meltdowns) but they probably played as well or better as they did last week against Indy.
Also misleading: zero sacks. A lot of free rushers, and good pressure affecting Mahomes on several throws.
The Pats certainly show that they've been in big spots before. White was smart enough to not go out of bounds as he angled toward the sideline on that big catch on the last drive. Gronk follows up with staying in bounds on his big catch.
Hopefully, Cannon will be good to go. This offense is just going to get better as Gordon and Michel get more comfortable. MIchel is very good when he hits the hole, but hasn't figured out how to navigate space when it opens up late, like the great Le'veon Bell does.
Gordon being on Chapter One of the passing game doesn't allow the Pats to run as much no huddle as in the past, which might be a good thing with the way the defense struggles.
Has Collinsworth figured out that the sack the Chiefs guy gave up wouldn’t have counted yet? Or is he still waxing on about it?
i'm not one to think the patriots know as much as they claim they do, but the way they played that 3-minute situation at the end suggests they had the single coverage with gronk whenever they wanted it.
Weirdly that 75-yard tying TD for KC with 3 min left pretty much gave the win to the Pats.
Was exciting to see them run so many plays to Gordon. Would be incredible if that guy can stay sober.
Yeah, uh, anything good on the teevee right now?
Mostly focused on how this was actually a big STATEMENT game by Mahomes
The drives are really amazing. Eleven each. Each team ended two drives with turnovers. Patriots intercepted two, Chiefs got a fumble and a turnover on downs.
They matched each other four TDs and four field goals each.
The only difference was the Chiefs punted once and the Patriots didn’t but got the fifth field goal to win the game.
The punts were 1-0 and the punting team lost.
