Typical Clemson game. Props to my Northwestern State Demons knocking off La Tech Bulldogs.

Fairly deep in FSU end, I can;t believe Daboo didn't at least call a timeout there and force FSU to try and punt.     Send all 11 for the block you have nothing to lose.

The old quote had something to do with one coach playing chess while the other is playing checkers.

Daboo is always over in the corner playing Tiddlywinks

I absolutely hate teams in the spread in short yardage.   You give the defense so much of an advantage on the slow developing plays

I'm pretty damn happy for Maguire and the rest of the FSU kids.  He may not have played well, but that's some gutsy shit against arguably the best defensive front in the NCAA.  The FSU players shouldn't lose a chance to defend their championship because their QB did something stupid, and they are the ones that would have really ended up paying for it in the end.  Most of those kids will never touch a football again in their lives after this season, while Winston will be a millionaire and have everything that comes along with it.  I'm happy for them.

That shotgun draw was so stupid. Not only did it make them gain 5.5 yds, it was so poorly designed it left the RB vs 2 LBs. Thats not including the lineman who blew up the play. Stupid stupid stupid.

Maguire heaping praise on Winston helping him prep.

2nd and 34 from their own 1 yard line for Oregon.   Wash St must feel like they have almost a 50/50 shot of forcing a punt here

Wow. Oregon has to punt out of their own end zone, It is a horrible punt, but a blocker makes contact with the punt returner, who muffs it, and Oregon takes over at their own 40.

Of course they force the punt and 2 Wash St receivers crash into each other, and they fumble the punt back to Oregon

Man, the kicking games at the college level are really, really bad.  I expect it from the smaller schools because there just aren't that many kickers to go around at the college level, but man, schools like Clemson and Oregon, etc. should be able to find guys that can make 30 yarders.

MYRTLE BEACH!!!!
Just talked to my Clemson freshman and he's just wandering aimlessly around campus. Classic.

The problem with Clemson right now is Dabo is a great recruiter and a good enough coach to organize, energize, and get them in the top 5-20 annually. He has lobbied for and has obtained a large staff budget with huge salaries to both Morris and Venebles. But someone has to answer for the level of absolute meltdown of coaching in a game where your team dominated a great team (absent a star QB) on the road. But it won't happen. The admin loves him and they are destined to the very good, but not great, level. Sure they've had some good wins the last few years (Georgia/LSU/OSU), but they've also had some stinkers (WVU/FSU/USC). I've watched this up close and I knew this season was screwed when he announced at the local Clemson banquet this summer that Cole Stoudt wasn't just a good backup the last few years, but a great backup, and that he deserved to start. Start Watson from day 1 and you probably still lose to Georgia, but you don't fuck up that first drive and you win tonight.

So now Deshaun is the starter with the two of the biggest games on your schedule over. Good planning.

Clemson just graduated Conizaro and he's the starting kicker for an NFL team, not sure which one. Obviously the transition is lacking some continuity.

If you are going shotgun, you might as well throw it. Even rollout, play action or something. It's tough to gain a yard when the d is stacked like that.
I'd go hand off, flea flicker, delayed TE release for a TD. Simple.

Washington State driving well, and then fumble it away.  Too bad.   Can't make mistakes like that if you want to beat the number 2 team in the country.

This game is exactly why hitting over unders is so hard.  By all rights, these teams should probably have twice the points they do now, but stalling in the red zone, missed field goals, and turnovers like that after a long drive are what kill you.

Halliday and Cracraft putting on a clinic right now, but again, they have to finish these drives.  Still 21-21 with the third quarter about to end.  Washington State has sacked Mariota six times tonight.

I listened to Ivan Maisel's interviews with all 65 power five coaches this summer. I won't lie, Dabo won me over. He sounded genuine, thoughtful and totally like a down-to-earth normal guy. I can see how he can recruit so well. But I could also see how he can commit to a guy too long. He sounded very strong in his beliefs as to how to run a program.
