Maybe Smith is smart enough at the line of scrimmage so that his star RB wouldn't be averaging one yard per carry? Dak is put into an optimum position to succeed with a great offensive line, great back, and a good set of receivers. When his team has barely over a hundred yards of total offense he deserves a lot of criticism.
It's Dak's fault that their running game has been comically inept today? Okay. By that logic, you have to give Dak credit for the fact they had they had the second best rushing offense in the NFL last season.

Would Alex Smith magically prevent the Dallas defense from giving up 400 yards to an offense led by the immortal Trevor Siemian? I guess that's Dak's fault too?

I don't think most sane fans would take a 33 year old Alex Smith over Dak Prescott. Alex Smith is who he is.
What this guy said. Alex Smith is the floor for Dak Prescott. Dak's ceiling is one of the best QBs in the NFL. There isn't a GM alive that would take Smith over Dak. The Chiefs GM just traded two 1st rd picks to get a replacement for Smith. Dak's having a bad game but c'mon.

Obviously you would rather have the prospect of Dak; but I'm not talking about who I'd rather have for 15 seasons; I'm only talking about right now.

Denver straight up curb stomped the Cowboys. AFC looks very tough.

Pats
Steelers
Broncos
Raiders
Chiefs
Ravens
Dolphins
Titans

There are going to be at least a couple pretty good teams that don't make it.

That field is so bright it looks like they are playing the game on the surface of the sun. And where are the overhead cameras located, Florida?

Dolphins don't belong there imo. Maybe Houston instead if Watson develops.

I don't think most would take Alex Smith right now either. Maybe but he was worse than Prescott during Prescott's rookie season. Not sure I'd put much weight on one road game in Denver.

Really? I bet all 32 HC would
Proven Veteran syndrome?

Smith had worse numbers pretty much across the board last year. Yards/A, total yards, TD, INT, comp %, etc.

Either that or you'd have to really be heavily weighting the first 2 games of 2017. I suppose you could make that argument that last year was a fluke for Dak and Alex Smith has taken his game to another level at age 33...but I'm not convinced.

We're on a message board and I'm a New England sports fan... I'm worried about everything.
I'm not sure you can classify thinking about the playoff match-ups in week 2 as a worry. It's the opposite of a worry, it's a luxury.

Imagine if you're a Browns fan. Do you think they are worried about potentially matching up with Oakland in the 2nd round?

I'd get a migraine just thinking about that if I were a brown. Hey...wait a minute!

I would say they are just trying to figure out what type of bag to wear over their head on Sunday.

I get why people expected Atlanta to have PTSD and go 8-8 but this offense is still legit.
Yeah, this is a really good team. Offense is a machine, even if the OL isn't overwhelming. They did lose a really goid FB (DiMarco) in FA, but he was by no means an indispensable player amd Shanahan was unusual in terms of his usage of the FB as a weapon.

And their defense is fast and talented, which is a nightmare to deal with if you're playing from behind.

The key will be whether Quinn learned a lesson about game management from the Super Bowl - his comments advocating for a collective amnesia about the game gives one pause, but hard to think he didn't take a long look at the run/pass decisions in the 4th

Atlanta's secondary has been really good tonight. They are not playing an average offense and their pass rush and coverage have been superb after the first touchdown.

I also feel like GB is in a bit of shock after losing Nelson early. And aren't two OL out as well?
