That goes up there in the top 10 with holding Butler out, fourth and two, punting on fourth and inches. The defense is going to be a problem against good, well coached teams.
I mean, they are still going to win the division.

Sometimes you have to tip your cap to the other team. They throughly outplayed the Patriots in every facet of the game. Regroup and go to Detroit and win.

With all that crappy play they still had a chance to cut it to 1 possession at the start of the 4th quarter. If they get points on that drive I think it's a much different outcome.

Still doesn't take away from a very subpar performance.

In terms of stupid coaching decisions, I think so. In terms of impact in the long run, yup, you are correct.

You are underestimating how badly overmatched the Pats were on the line today. On both sides of the call.

But the infamous MNF game against the Chiefs a few years ago was similar. They seem to improve on the line each year as the season goes on.

Well their top 2 Tackles are hurt, one for the year. Gonna be tough to have a high ceiling, and they should struggle against good pass rushes.

Hopefully, Jacksonville tipped their hand with this game - even without Fournette. Last time they were routed was another nationally televised game - in Kansas City. Now, 'on to Cincinatti' will only be part of the solution that Bill can - and will - develop and that Brady will execute.

The offense still has some upside remaining in Edelman and if Michel can be that playmaking RB. Special teams has upside with Patterson and Edelman. And the defense? Well....yeah. We’re absolutely screwed there. The talent just isn’t there.

The Pats deserved to lose this game. Get thoroughly outplayed in the first half. Come back in the second and get a huge turnover and have a chance to really make this a game and the RT gets smoked and Brady loses the ball. Even a FG would have been important there.

Then the stupid decision to punt. Then they get the guy to jump and nobody reacts and so a golden chance for a first down is gone. Then the awful defense immediately following. Then basically giving up, taking forever to move the ball down the field before scoring.

All that plus Wise, Flowers, and Chung all getting hurt.

Just a terrible day of football for the New England Patriots.

Thankfully, it's just one game and this happens every year. Hoping the guys get healthy. They have two games they should win coming up. And in their next 6, they should go 5-1 and enter the halfway mark at 6-2. Which would be fine.

I’m not necessarily all that upset at the fact they lost, I’m taking issue with the fact that the coaching staff and players made glaring mental errors.

What’s with the slow play on that last drive? What the hell was that?

Of course one day it will end. But as said they’ve been in this situation in September many times before and they came through. We shall see.

If you look at Brady’s stats in 90+ degree games, we were supposed to lose. If you look at his Stas in 85+, we were supposed to win.

    Those stats are still dumb.

    Here you go:

    - I love your fortitude in hanging in there during a tough loss! all Pats fans could really learn from you,
    - Now that's the way to stick with the team.
    - Modeling some impressive loyalty there, well done bud.

Better? Bailing when the team is sucking it up is really a thing to be noted, bravo.

Most of his answers with 3 or 4 word responses.

Question: Why did you decide to punt on 4th and short?

    BB: We wanted to punt.

    That was his longest answer.

Punting was indefensible. Pathetic, gutless call. BB looked foolish today

Jax played like this was an important game to them. Pats played it like a learning experience and lets not get hurt - which happened anyway. Never had a chance.

Not the worst outcome given that they were thoroughly outplayed in the first half. On to Detroit.

Listening again you're right, just seems weird to have a sample where the vocals are so closely trying to mimic the original... almost seems like a karaoke rendition

I still can’t believe they didn’t target speedy linebackers in the draft. Blows my mind

This was far worse than last season's opener loss vs KC. In that game, the Pats led after Q1, half & Q3. They just let it get away in Q4. This is more comparable to the Monday Night KC loss years ago where they were never really in it.

Maybe of the infamous 4th and 2 in Indy 2009 or others 4th and 1 not made, but this one was ridiculous because of 4 things:
    1. Very short distance.
    2. Score.
    3. Time left.
    4. Momentum

Weirdest (and worst) decision that I can remember Belichick making in a regular season game. We’re talking about 4th and inches with one of the best QB sneakers in league history and the odds of 2 scoring drives after punting were so low.
