His stats are hurt by the drops and the stupid penalties that constantly slow down promising drives.
I can probably name 9 QBs playing better than him if I was forced; I can’t come up with 14 (though my opinion doesn’t really matter).

This was what, the 5th game all year that Gronk, Jules, Edelman and Michel played? Does everyone forget the shit he was trying to throw to at the beginning of the season? Christ, when Philip Dorsett and Chris Hogan are key people on your receiving corps, I don't care who you are, you aren't putting up good stats.

In the last 3 games, since he's had his complement of weapons, how are his stats? I'll give you a hint, it's a lot fucking better than 15th.

Look at Jags, Falcons, Eagles.....it's impressive the Pats have something to play for year in and year out. I'm in Tampa and you can't believe the crap I have seen on the field for the past 10 years plus.....

Yeah.. 14 calls to 4 made no difference. That dpi call against the pats didn’t move the ball..40-50 yards?

And wasn’t it just romo and manta saying he was down by contact?

This is another in a line of great posts you're rolling out tonight.

The guy is 41 years old. He's just about done. It sucks but it's inevitable. Blaming everyone else in the world for this team's disappointing (by its standard) season just looks foolish.

Just thinking how much it rules to go 11-5 and people think it was a down season. What a run.

Yeah. But they scored three points in the second half. And seven on a freaky play in the first half. It’s obviously not all on Brady. But this offense has issues. Big ones. I think we all would taken 17 for Pittsburgh before the game.

Blaming him when his teammates were dropping balls over the field, committing 14 penalties (about 5 of which never should have been called) and his offensive coordinator calling a putrid game, is fucking laughable, and it makes you look like an idiot.

Pats will have to win two coin flip games to make the SB and people want to tear it down. It’s pretty wild.

Win the next two, get some help from Philly and #2 seed is still theirs. This year I think I'd rather be on that side of the draw.

None of that is on Brady. Not one single thing. That's the point. He didn't commit penalties, he didn't call the plays, he didn't fucking drop balls. Even the one pick, he couldn't get the ball out of play because he was being dragged down by a pass rusher. If anything, I'll give you those 3 points. Every other fucking drive was stifled by someone other than Tom Brady. Every single one.

Go ahead, point out one drive that Brady screwed up? One bad throw he made to an open receiver? Even if you find one, that's all you will find.

It's fucking unbearable week after week reading people trying to hold Brady to an impossible standard. Just like the refs held the Pats to a different standard than the Steelers today. You guys want Brady gone so bad, just say it. I, for one, watch a ton of football, and I sure as shit don't want to even think about watching what 95% of the NFL has under center right now.

Do you watch any other NFL games? QB is a very weak position right now. Brees sucks outside the dome yet has arguably the best weapons in the NFL. Rivers has an elite OL, Allen, Gordon, Williamses. Luck has an elite OL.
Really the regression of Cannon is as much an issue as any player on offense. He has been poor this year.

The majority of that disparity was well-earned. How many penalties were called on the Steelers at or before the snap?

And of the three back-breaking O-holding penalties, only one was debatable, and even then only because refs often ignore those in crunch time — it’s not like he didn’t obviously hold a defender who had beaten him and had a clear path to the QB.

He was part of the problem. As I noted, the team sucked at everything today.

It was not the officials' fault. THAT is just plain stupid.

Brady is fine. He’s not what he was last year or two years ago, but he’s still more than good enough to win with.

I think he’s dropped off a bit, and what it highlights is that the last three Super Bowls they played in were largely a result of how great he was. He drops off just a tad and the talent issues they have all over the field get exposed big time.

I mean, sure, he's been fine. If a 23-year-old QB had the season he did, I would be excited to see how much better he could be next year.

He's 41 fucking years old. Fine this year after 15+ sublime seasons is not a good sign for next year.

Houston almost lost to the Jets. If the Pats do get the 3 seed they play the Colts? Titans? At home then go to Houston. Chargers or Pitt at Kc, a game that anyone could win...Who knows? No one is that great (at least KC is mortal without Hunt) and anything can happen.

Brady isn’t in the top 10... of things wrong with the Pats this season.

He’s not 2007 Tom, but he’s more than good enough to win a title. The rest of the O is playing mediocre-to-lousy.

This sums it up pretty well.
I am more shocked by the complete regression of some of the other guys.
I can’t believe how penalized this line is. Worst it has been under Dante.

He’s still an elite QB, but he’s not quite as good at extending the play as he used to be. Not surprising for a 41-year old. Wouldn’t be a major issue if they had even an average O-line.

Sure, but this addition of the Pats have given zero indication that they have the talent or mental toughness to win on the road. It reminds me of 2009 and the clip during the BB “A Football Life” when he and Brady were commiserating on the sidelines and he says something like “I just can’t get them to play the right way.”

His stats are similar to 2014. So if that was part of the 15+ sublime seasons, I would say it is okay to not be overly concerned.
The end is approaching, but it isn’t here yet, at least for Brady.

its really hard to gain ten yards let alone fifteen, twenty..especially when it happens multiple times a drive.

The NFL can go fuck itself. After watching that game the WWE and Sarah Huckabee Sanders have more credibility than the NFL. What a fucking joke.

Case in point? Go back and look at the pass before the series of events that led to Brady's int. to Hayden. Gronk catches the ball, clearly is down at the four yard line. Pittsburgh ref's mark it at the five yard line. Not a peep out of CBS. Just one play in a game full of them. 14 penalties. Bullshit calls. Phantom ball spots. Throughout the entire game. Fuck the NFL. What a fucking joke.

Anybody that bets money on this shit is insane. You're not betting on a competition. You're betting on what the NFL decides they want that week.

The road offense is very problematic. Four drops. Several big plays called back on penalties, which I don’t really disputes but which were NOT called on Pit. Brady had that one huge mistake. Can’t sugarcoat that one. But it likely cost them just three points and they’d have needed a touchdown on the last drive anyway.

I’m going to choose to be encouraged by the fact that despite horrific run defense (again) and a huge, godawful DPI penalty, they held Pit to just 17 points at Heinz.

Have you watched Brees play outside a dome? What is amazing about Brady is all the stats he put up playing outside in the northeast. I'd love to see what Peyton and Brees stats look like if they didn't play 60+% of their games indoors.

    James Develin 2 targets.
    Josh Gordon 2 targets.
I’m sure Pittsburgh schemed to take Gordon away but that’s terrible. We couldn’t scheme to get him more than 2 looks the whole game?

Brady probably does get held to an impossible standard. The interception he threw and all the throws he sailed out of the end zone at the end of the game certainly were frustrating. He and many others on the team needed to be better tonight and they weren’t.

Well I guess. At home this year they've scored 37, 14, 41, 33, 52, and 30 - an average of 34.5 per game, and they only scored 17 against the Pats' porous defense. I know most of that was with Connor, but their running game looked fine to me today - proof that it's not really about the RBs, it's about the OL vs the DL.

Much more a Sox fan than Pats fan. The Pats have had a simply incredible run and given some luck, could win it this year. Not the time to give up. Not at all. They remind me of the late 80’s Celts who were a dangerous team with a legendary star, but always just a bit lacking when the starters tired.

One playoff game at a time.

Blaming today on Brady is like walking into a Sox game thread and blaming Chris sale after losing a complete game with 14 strikeouts, no walks and 2 hits, by a score of 1-0. The run was unearned due to an error at first with 2 outs and a man on third, and the only reason the guy got to the 3rd was because of a phantom balk that was called that could have been called 45 times on the opposing pitcher and wasn't.

That's the analogy here, and it's why this place will always be a baseball board first. Glad we don't hold the Red Sox to these same standards.
