That is some of the worst clock management I've ever seen. Had first and goal at the one with like 25 seconds left and they run one play before having to kick it with 4 seconds left. Brutal. I can't believe the announcers aren't calling it out.

What's even worse about that is 24 seconds ran off a clock that had been stopped by the first down.  I can't even believe that just happened.  What was Gus doing there?  Just standing around watching the clock burn.

Would be funny if Bama loses this one,  wins next week, and with a couple things happen,  so we get Oregon versus Bama in the first round of the playoff.   While TCU gets either Baylor or OSU

(obviously one of the things that has to happen in this scenario is FSU loses to GT)

I do think   Bama versus Oregon is the one game people want to see.

Oregon is outstanding,  but honestly I thing the Pac 12 is no better than the big 12, and is full of a lot of joke defenses

Not Lynn (or Ocean Side)
A combination of having to show the crowd you caught the ball and bad clock management cost Auburn points at the end of the half.

Edit: Others covered it. Kids needed second put-down, was watching on delay.

Another INT, wow. If Auburn doesn't score a TD here to capitalize, they might be screwing themselves over though. Gotta put distance between them.

If you believe in FO and advanced statistics, this is categorically false.
I spent my childhood watching the Pac-10 champ crush the Big-10 champ annually in the Rose Bowl, but that didn't stop old men from waxing poetic about the awesomeness of the Big-10. Some things never change.

Could Cooper have been any more wide fucking open? That was like throwing a rock at the broad side of a barn.

"Tremendous job by Blake Sims"

More proof that Jesse Palmer is a moron.

The old fogies might get their Pac 12 vs. Big 10 game in the Rose Bowl with # 1 Oregon and # 4 Ohio State.
Alabama isn't dropping below Ohio State even if they lose tonight, and unless Blake Sims is seriously hurt, they aren't losing to Missouri.

A little surprised Auburn didn't challenge that spot
Amazing how bad SEC refs are. The guy went up there and just signaled first down on a close 4th and 2. Haven't been watching, but I heard there have been quite a few of those.

How can they say he had control in the field of play when he was still fighting for the ball with the defensive back?

These DBs are so well trained for Bama, how is Dee Milliner so bad?

I can't believe they are going back and reviewing this after they ran the next play.  The refs have completely fucked this up.  There is no way that they can say he established control while he was in bounds.

Jesse Palmer really is nails-on-a-chalkboard annoying. Taking away from an otherwise greatly entertaining game

No way that's a catch, but it also shouldn't be reviewed.  Auburn clearly got the play off before any review was called for.

I don't think I've ever seen a play like this, but the one thing I do know is that it cannot be a completed pass.  It's just not possible.

That is such a horrible call, I can't believe it.  How the fuck can you say one guy established control and say there was joint possession.  That's as bad a rule, or interpretation of a rule, as you will ever see.

"Joint possession by both players" somehow equals "catch by Auburn".

Holy shit, this is a joke.

Seems like the right call

I presume you are asking about a simultaneous catch where both a Team A and Team B player both come down with the ball in the end zone completing the catch.  simultaneous catch go to the passing team or offense [akin to baseball's "tie goes to the runner"]. A simultaneous catch or recovery is a catch or recovery in which there is jointhttp://sonsofsamhorn.net/topic/86828-week-14-college-football-game-thread/page-8 possession of a live ball by opposing players inbounds.

Simultaneous catches are addressed in the rule books under NCAA 2-2-8,7-3-6; NFHS rule2-4-3,7-5-4
Here are some examples to illustrate what is and what is not a simultaneous catch:

* Two opposing players receive a legal forward pass while both are off the ground, and both players return to the ground inbounds at the same time. RULING: Simultaneous catch; the ball is awarded to the passing team (Rule 2-2-8).

* Two opposing players receive a ball while both are off the ground, and one player returns to the ground inbounds before the other. RULING: No simultaneous catch. The legal forward pass is
completed or intercepted by the player who first returned to the ground (Rule 2-2-8).

Thus, If a receiver and a defender both come down with the ball in the end zone (simultaneous catch), both are holding the ball with their hands the ball belongs to the Passing team and the play results in a Touchdown.
