My flight took off as Gost’s kick sailed through. Then I get WiFi and see the score. Sick to my stomach.

(Doesn’t help that I’m playing against Drake in two fantasy playoffs.)

On the video you can see Gilmore circle back to cover for a cross field lateral that never happens.

    No idea on the others.

Siri, show me an entire game that looks like a Brandin Cooks jet sweep from the 1.

That’s still his job. Jones and Van Noy flat gave up on the play.

They had several guys not get Drake.

You can’t converge on the carrier too much because they’ll lateral it backside.

It was miraculous that Drake scored.

No. 55 yards would have left them kicking a 60 yard field goal. They needed more like 65-70 and to down it in time. There’s just no possible way that happens.

Lots of arguing about the 4th down call, but realize that to lose in any scenario takes a massively flukey play. Knowing that, you would conclude there is no tangible difference between a turnover on downs and a made FG. So go for the TD and hope you can make the PAT which removes all probability of a loss.

But we shouldn't even be talking about this, it's just rediculous.

I wasn't passing any judgment on Gilmore, just stating what he did. That likely was his responsibility.

Odd to me that you go for it all with the bomb knowing that success or failure both give a strong possibility of extending the game, but then follow it up by conceding the chance at the TD with three straight runs. Running out the clock or scoring a TD are the only truly safe results there, and they somehow thread the needle perfectly to make sure neither could happen.

and then they don’t kick field goal. Dolphins have 16 seconds left. Why couldn’t something crazy happen that leads to a game winning field goal? Then this board meltdowns by the posts saying “WHY DIDNT YOU KICK THE FG TO FORCE THEM TO SCORE A TD??” If you can’t stop a team that has no time outs to go 70 yards for winning score then you don’t deserve to win. Plain and simple.

A 60 yard field goal in today's NFL is absolutely a puncher's chance to win.

I’m not saying don’t kick the field goal. I’m saying try to score a TD. I’ll take the better chance of sealing the game and risking the same 5 point lead with, say 45 seconds left or whatever.

we have a really bad defense and Chiefs have a QB who can make those miracle throws back over the middle of the field not be so much of a miracle.

    you are what you are.

They would have 16 secs or so to work with. If they can go 70 yards in 7 secs, something flukey can happen that gives them a shot at a game winning FG. Bottom line. If you can’t stop a team with one shot at a 70 yard TD then you don’t deserve to win. Plain and simple.

    It's a fucking joke.

I literally asked a question earlier this season about referees calling plays against Miami. Soden was ranting after every game about the refs costing them the game. I asked if that was a fair complaint, and if it was, did he think the penalties were related to the speed of the Dolphins.

Dolphins fans cried, posts were deleted, warnings were made.

I truly hope nobody respects a single post this clown makes going forward. I haven't for about 5 years.

Fun quirk of the board mechanics is if you block soden you don’t even see the Dolphins thread at all.

Throw the ball? They ran the ball and couldn’t score. The way they played the last set of downs ends in a win 99.9999999% of the time.

Probably. But were the Pats going to run it against a stacked front? If so, I give that a tiny chance to succeed as they'd done nothing the previous few plays. I guess the play there if you're going to go for it would have been let the clock run down as much as possible, then pass against a run defense, and see what happens, as a failure either by run or pass stops the clock.

Either way, let's be honest... The $#!@#! miracle play happens once every 25 years in the NFL. The Dolphins could have run that against a college team and wouldn't have converted. Total freak play.

Except....that a handful of Pats' players gave total half-assed effort, and THAT is inexcusable.

It would tie the franchise record by a guy who has never hit one over 53. On garbage turf for extra difficulty.

How many players can even run 70 yards in 7 seconds, let alone avoiding defenders, making a catch, and stopping the clock before it hits triple zeros?

They would have had around 16 seconds to work with. Again, if you can’t defend a one shot play at a 70 yard TD then you should lose.

The best/only chance in a SB scenario is that they play the Saints and Payton tries to lean on Ingram for some reason.

And fantastic effort by #62 Ted Larsen. Kudos to him. The Dolphins got the play they needed. Pats were, as usual, not up to the task in Miami. Same story, different year. On to Pittsburgh.

Glad I missed the game. Cell phone would have been through the tv. Did the dolphins not attempt the PAT? Isn’t that required in regulation?

The Dolphins are an average team, at best; and I'm still not sure what to think of Gase as a HC, but it's worth noting that his team plays VERY hard for him. Gase was without his starting QB for 5.3 games this season and has lost 11 players to I.R., most notably, C Daniel Kilgore, G Josh Sitton, TE MarQues Gray, TE A.J. Derby, WR Albert Wilson, WR Jakeem Grant, DE William Hayes, and DT Vincent Taylor.

He was also without his best defensive player today, CB Xavien Howard.

All this, and Miami's somehow won 7 games.

NE lost to a worse Miami team last year and still nearly won the Super Bowl.

The Patriots are going to be fine.

    NE vs KC.

    Wow, what a gut punch.

I was surprised by the horrible run Pats run offense today. Miami is ranked #30 against the run but they played like a top-ranked run defense.

What I don't get is that White has been basically ignored in favor of Michel and Burkhead after they both came back. Michel ran the ball 20 times for 57 yards. White did have 4 (for 13) rushing attempts and 2 passing attempts so he was in there a bit..but their offense seemed much more run it into the line today, lacking their typical creativity.

I also think Brady was looking a lot more down field on his throws not using the dump-offs he usually uses. Having Gronk, Edelman and now Gordon has seemed to extend the range of pass plays.

Can someone explain what JC Jackson was doing on the last play? He was jogging at half speed pursuing the ball carrier.

So was Gilmore. Both players and I’m sure a few others just phoned it in.

I’m sure they were both pretty tired of the front seven letting basically every run get 8+ yards.

Meh. Sucked and stings now, but not that big a deal in the scheme of things. And on the brightside: it compelled me to cleanse my mind by watching The Play for the 85,349th time...

Yep, it still beats today's play by a mile, not just due to the complexity of the play itself or the plowing-through-the-Stanford-band finish, but also to the fact that the announcers were calling it one of the most amazing games they'd seen even before the play. Plus the sheer hysteria of Joe Starkey's call remains pretty much my favorite thing ever. There will be no extra point!!!

i think the NFL /Media wants mahomes in the Super Bowl KC reminds me a lot of the 2013 broncos

if NE does not make it to SB 53 i dont see how the AFC can win because it will be the rams or saints and they both will score 40+

mahomes is Brett frave 2.0 part of me now wishes he went to ne just to see how kraft bill b brady retacted
