I really didn't want to start this thread because I'm not really a thread starter of these types, so if someone wants to post the more traditional "first post" of weekly game threads, please be my guest.

In the meantime, I just wanted to briefly mention East Carolina WR, Justin Hardy.  They lost tonight to Cincinatti (giving ECU two consecutive losses, including last week to Temple, and taking their really promising season and effectively flushing it down the toilet), but in the game, Hardy had 15 catches for 188 yards and a td, and he ran for a td as well.

More importantly, Hardy now has 346 career receptions (including 114 last year), and he is now poised to crush the FBS record of 349 set by Ryan Broyles of Oklahoma back in 2011.  The all division record was also set in 2011 by Michael Zweifel of Dubuque, who ha a potentially unbreakable 450 receptions in his career.  Hardy also went over 4,000 yards receiving in tonight's game.

While we're on the topic of receivers, USC is spanking Cal right now 31-9 as they start the third quarter.  Trojan WR, Nelson Agholor has 13 receptions for 175 yards and 2td's through the first half. This is his fourth straight 100 yard game, and comes on the heels of an 8 catch, 220 yard, 1td game last week.

In the crazy, exciting world of Conference USA action, 2-7 UTSA is losing 10-9 to the 3-7 powerhouse, Southern Miss.  UTSA however just drove the field, and with 7 seconds left, they are going to be attempting a 38 yard field goal to win, once Southern Miss is done trying to ice the kicker.

And it's goooooooooooooooooooooddddddd.   The Roadrunners are on top 12-10 with 1 second left on the clock.  Barring a miracle, UTSA is going to get the win and keep their non-existent hopes, still non-existent.

Wow. Impressive 86-yard TD run by J.T. Barrett. 9th rushing TD of the year for him, and 35th TD he's been involved in this season. Only a freshman.

Remember at the start of the season Christian Hackenberg was considered a potential Heisman candidate?

7 TDs, 13 INTs later, not so much!

Make it 14. He's really bad.

The refs also called a penalty after an interception on "the kicking team". The Bg Ten is great!

MAC refs. Franklin claimed the first INT was the receiver's fault, but the second was emblematic of his season. Still, I can't help but think that the play calling and scheme has a lot to do with it. It's like they secretly hired Jay back to coach the QBs.

He's missing a ton of open receivers and throwing off his back foot. That's not an OL or scheme issue unfortunately.

Western Kentucky RB, Leon Allen is going OFF right now against Army.  With about 7 minutes left, he has 28 carries for 335 yards and 3 td's.

WTF Beamer? Fake on 4th 18, with good defense their playing? and on the hash, rolling out to the short side of the field.

That was the worst play call I've seen all season.

Virginia Tech leading Duke by one late in the fourth, 4th and 18 around mid-field.

Fake punt. Fails badly. Duke gets the ball with great field position.

The game has passed the old man by.

Western Kentucky is leading 52-24 in the game and just went for it on fourth down to try and give him the FBS record that was previously held by Matt Forte, and he got it.  Now, they are just feeding him the rock.  He just left the game with, I think, 347 yards on the day.  Forte's previous record was 342.

Which record? LDT's rushing record is 406 yards

edit - Forte went to Tulane so maybe that's the C-USA record.

That was weird in the Duke game. VT RB may have run out of bounds on 3rd down, but it wasn't clear. the refs said he didn't and Duke called TO. They perhaps could have challenged that the ball was out of bounds, and kept the TO if he was out, or just lose the TO and stop the clock anyway.

The end of that game was very ugly. Duke's season blows up.

I hate how announcers say that intentional grounding is bad because of loss of down. It's a spot foul, so if he was sacked, it would be the same down and distance on the next play. Plus, the throw stops the clock.

McMullen for Nebraska looks like the second coming of Suh. I haven't watched enough Nebraska this season to know if he's good though. But he's big and fast.

Good but raw. He'll benefit from another season or two. And it helps to have Gregory on the other side.

Bruising RB, James Connor of Pitt having another monster day today.  He's got 30 carries for 220 yards and 4td's.  He had 38 carries for 263 yards and 3td's last week. They currently lead UNC 35-34 with about 3 minutes to go after his latest score.  He's now over 1,500 yards on the season and has 21 td's.  If he stays healthy, he could have a monster career.  He's only a sophomore, and he went for about 800 yards and 8td's as a freshman.

I'm not sure if he got hurt, or it's just a function of the fact that they are winning 48-0 at halftime, but my boy, Jarvion Franklin of Western Michigan only has 5 carries for 26 yards, and 1 catch that went for a 54 yard td.  That's the 23rd td of the year (his first receiving) for the incredible freshman.
