Ordway going on a rant about bloggers and podcasters who "live in their mom's basement" and think they know more about the Celtics and Al Horford than him and Lou. He is basically challenging them to come on the air and have a sports debate about the Celtics.
Apparently Lou studied a lot of NBA game tape riding the shuttle from Boston to Pawtucket.

They're right in calling out that fake ass bitch Bill Simmons though. The so-called "Mr Boston Sports" out there in Hollyweird about as far removed from Boston as possible. Now he's chirping at Lou for his Horford takes.

So, one needs to be in the city of a team to be able to have a more educated take on a players ability and performance?

I'd add that Simmons' NBA credentials include hosting various ESPN NBA shows and writing a book. so even if you don't like where he lives, his takes on basketball come with a bit more heft than Lou's. That's not to say that you have to like or respect him, but don't expect a lot of people to just go with whatever Lou says here.

Your profile says you live in Minnesota, what are you talking about? Your takes in this case are no more valid than Simmons since one of you is in Hollywood and one of you is in the Midwest if you go by your logic.

I need one of the long-time basketball reporters to come on the show and mockingly call Lou Merloni "Mr. Basketball" like McAdam called Felger "Mr. Baseball" years back.

I flipped through this afternoon and man, these guys are the most condescending a-holes on Boston radio. Lou is a particular know-it-all. Who enjoys these guys? I actually think Ordway with the meatheads in the early 00's was more tolerable.

Lou is also bad on the Red Sox radio broadcasts. He always seems smug and acts like he is an expert on baseball. It drives me nuts when he is on the Red Sox broadcasts.

I wonder how much this has to do with Dale's commitments to NESN? Didn't he often have to leave the show early to do Bruins pregame?

Kinda makes sense...Dale was always the mid-day guy until he, in a round about way, got dragged to drive-time for Holley. Now that Holley is gone, time to move vanilla Dale back to the vanilla time slot.

kind of telling on the show's draw that this thread is almost three years old, and only on page two

Keefe was honestly the only reason I listened to EEI. No reason to turn them on at all now because I can't listen mid-day.

This blows, as now Zo & Beetle and Dale & Keefe are on at the same time and now there's nothing listenable from 2-6. Back to podcasts!

Fauria makes Steve DeOssie look like Bill James.

He's not as bad as Fred Smerlas or Larry Johnson, but he's really close.

That’s crazy talk!

Sucks for Keefe. He would have been perfect as the third man on Felger and Mazz, but he took a shot with WEEI. The station sticking with Gerry/Dale/Glenn is a massive win for the Sports Hub.

Count me in as one who won't be listening to sports radio in the afternoon.
Fauria is one of the worst hosts on radio. Merloni isn't much better and has become more sensitive than Dale. All of them are lazy. Never heard any good interviews with them. Yeah, cannot think of any reason to turn them on.

Even before I mostly stopped listening to sports talk radio, I never listened to OMF. Last week, as I was stuck in traffic, I switched over for some reason. Only to hear Christian Fauria complaining about people, and Mookie himself, getting excited about Mookie's amazing at bat/grand slam. He said that it was basically like people getting overly excited about a 2nd quarter TD in week 8. "It wasn't even a walkoff!" I mean, what a god damn buffoon.

This news totally sucks. Dale left early maybe 20 shows/year.

Hopefully the ratings plummet.
You would like to think so, but I bet they marginally improve versus how D&K performed against F&M. They were getting absolutely crushed. Being loud, obnoxious and spitting out "hot takez" is the only formula that works for the dying genre of drive time sports talk radio.

As for the OMF show itself, I'm not really a fan of Ordway and Merloni, but it is Fauria that makes that show truly unlistenable. He adds nothing to the table other than being the loud clownish buffoon in the corner, who tries to scream and laugh over everyone. Just awful.

Exhume Frank from Gloucester; bring back the Whiner Line; loop in Smerlas and DeOssie to punch in the mouth any caller who comes close to suggesting that the New England Patriots have erred in any respect.

Sorry but you can’t go home again.

Fully agree. Will not be listening to EEI or Sports Hub during the evening commute. Both shows are now unlistenable.

Dale & Keefe aren't happy. The spent the first 15 minutes about it and didn't hold much back. WEEI wouldn't let them work alone without a 3rd person, they had no input on the 3rd person, WEEI didn't let one co-host come consecutive days and were unable to develop any real rhythm. Holley left abruptly and they basically had to rework the show and despite that came in 2nd, although far enough behind F&M.

Keefe did throw in, I'm sure Glenn and co-will do well and we wish them the best, it worked out well last time for Glenn when he went against Felger.

Is Janet Prensky coming back to WEEI? Her read of the ad copy for a local strip club was an amazing radio moment.

Minihane further exposed himself as the phony he is by declaring that OMF was doing a great job and would do well in afternoon drive, even winning the book.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

Count me in on the "no more sports talk in the afternoon". Keefe was the only thing I found interesting on either station once T&R signed off, and now I won't be able to listen to that since I'm at work.

They don't have to do as well as F&M, but I wouldn't be shocked at all if they got better ratings than D&K. The show is more like F&M, and we already know which shows get ratings.

It looks like I'm in the minority here, but im actually excited about this. I like Keefe, but struggle to listen to Dale at all. Holley & Keefe would have had a chance to be very very good. I prefer OMF to F&M for my commute and its not close. There are times I listen during the day and OMF is off the rails and not very good, but overall I think the do the best job in the market of mixing sports and non sports talk.

Felger has been all Pats & heavy basketball for awhile now after abandoning the Bruins & dumping on the Sox.

Given this move it makes me think Felger has heard rumblings for awhile and has prepared. It’s gonna make me listen even less. Grr

The "real" Butch on frequent guest attorney Harry Manion's inability to predict verdicts in sports-related cases. "If he was my lawyer, I'd be Butch From Walpole".
I was never a bit Butch from the Cape fan, but man, he is spot on with this. Manion was always, ALWAYS, wrong about sport cases. He was like an unfunny Lionel Hutz.

"That's why you're the judge and I'm the law talking guy!"

So this would be considered a demotion for D&K? That's too bad. I think that pretty much ends my listening to WEEI. I would only listen to D&K on the ride home and purposely avoided every other hour of the morning and mid day show. I guess they know what they are doing if people are listening to the crap they trot out so more power to them.

How fucking dated is WEEI? I was sick of Ordway in 2002. I now like both 10-2 shows better than both 2-6. Sucks.
