Up to 94 there.
ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO MOOKIE
Is English not his first language?
That was a perfect spot to blow him away with a 97mh fastball and get out of the inning. He throws a change up. Somethings wrong.
Ummmm. no ...should be able to get game in..at least most of it....without a delay..
Trouble. Oh man.
Encouraging start, Sale.
Yea I’m terrified of Sale facing a real offense in G1. Wonder what his injury is.
Not good enough to put Jones and the inning away.
Too bad Jones didn't remain a corpse
Well any confidence I had about the postseason just went out the window
Is there any chance the Red Sox decide he's not their game one pitcher now?
PLEASE let this have been as planned. Just a spring training start to get healthy
Don't nibble EdRo there's 2 guys on. --- OK
Maybe Sale pitches the 8th inning
When you wish upon a star. . . .
What's the Erod plan? Will he pitch again this regular season?
Time to move sale to the BP and move Drew P to the # 1 spot in the rotation
This is where I am. Sox post season success is dependent on a dominant Sale. I’m afraid that’s not a thing right now
Two bag Raffy.
So, what you're saying is that this team's post season hopes... have Saled?
Whale of a slide, Raffy.
Just switched from HD to SD, and signal is fine. Missed half hour of the game unnecessarily. I didn't know that was a thing. And now we are tied. Coincidence?
For those saying Sale was holding back and treating this like a simulated game, he specifically said that one of his goals for this start was to “crank up my fastball and hit locations, get some swings and misses...”
Classic Belichick move.
Y’all that get NESN let us know what Sale and Cora have to say after the game.
Well, Mr. Phillips has made it clear to everyone he prefers to not be on the playoff roster.
Fake news. La la la la la la la la i'm not listening
Hopefully this game is over before 2 am
I am concerned, too, but it's at least possible that he was convinced to save it for games that matter to stretch him out with less risk.
I'm there too. If we're speculating, it's just as possible he got out there, didn't really like how he felt, decided not to push it, but stayed to get his work in.
Not as good as being able to push it. But not necessarily catastrophic, just indeterminate.
Not sure what Sale can give us in the post season. He faced a AAA team tonight. I'd go into game 1 prepared to go to Wright real early if needed
A number of his fastballs were sub 90 but got wrongly classified as changeups. He hit 93-94 on occasion after a couple innings but I'd say he averaged 90-91.
Ideal Postseason Pitcher usage:
Starter for 6
Eddie for 2
The King for 1
Win, rinse, repeat.
Edro says don’t forget me.
There's no way to know, unless Sale or Cora say something postgame, and I doubt they will. But I do think it's possible that keeping the velocity down was part of the game plan. One reason to believe is that they let him throw 92 pitches, knowing where his velocity was. If the team was more concerned about lingering soreness, I think Cora would have gone to the bullpen earlier.
Ah ... the Brett Kavanaugh approach
Swihart sucks out there
Barnes still gives me the creeps. I'd sooner see Brasier in a Hi-Lev spot in the playoffs
He's probably gun shy running towards those walls still. He was pretty fearless until he hurt that ankle.
5 curveballs in a row. Is Barnes practicing too?
Barnes is all or nothing and tonight looks like he has nothing.
Yeah Lyons - Barnes can also be devastating to his own team!
More questions than answers in this game.
Ugh. The bullpen.
A lot of the Sox pitching is scary.
Barnes continues to remind me why I didn't miss him.
