Back in my stoner days a group of us were at the hemp fest at Boston Common. We ran out of our own stuff, and bought hydro of a midget playing bongos. We all started hallucinating, one friend decided to lay down on the red line floor... During rush hour. It is very real
Rush hour on a weekend? Or did you guys trip out for a couple days?

It doesn't affect his playing status for the next 3 games so as far as I'm concerned let's move on to KC.
If making dumb jokes about Rex Ryan's foot fetish can get you benched for a series, then I wouldn't at all be shocked to see Jones parked on the bench for the beginning of the KC game.

Rush hour, he had a hard time making it to the floor but he got there eventually. It was for the rest of the night. Someone thought angel dust but I had no baseline to go by. That was the start of the end for pot for me...until I moved to Colorado

I live in Foxboro and know the people at Walgreens. I jokingly asked the lady at the front cashier spot about if she heard anything. She said Chandler Jones was actually shirtless snooping around the Foxboro PD near the back where they keep the police cars early in the morning.
Snooping, eh? Wasn't that was those U.S. sailors were doing when they drifted, "accidentally", into Iranian waters? It remains to be seen if they were also shirtless.

Hah, you saw that? Avatar gave me away again.
Dang this has been posted already. I just caught up on the thread. I'm leaving it up as it's worth multiple posts and maybe some poor skimmer will read only this page

I mean, there is literally zero evidence or reason to think the Pats didn't fulfill their reporting requirements.

My days are filled with really smart, accomplished people not fulfilling their requirements, or arguably so. That is my frame of reference.

That said, I expect to hear nothing exculpatory from the team or League, at least before the SB.

So, according to Deadspin, Synthetic Weed is not listed on the NFL's list of banned substances. It is also not illegal in Foxboro. So, technically, the league appears to have no recourse.

So the Patriots got away with one by skirting the edges of the rule book again!

Which I think is just hilarious.

You can't seriously be complaining about people making joke about this, can you?
What? No. I just wish we would make more topics instead of shoving things into season-long threads. When i was first looking for the discussion about it yesterday the thread was titled something about Edelman. Thats all.

Keep the jokes coming.

The NFL its minions will find a way to punish the patriots

Just what I feared while reading this thread last night has happened -- the thread turned out to be way more interesting and useful than what actually happened with Jones.

If you want some entertaining histrionics on this, Felger and Mazz are absolutely apoplectic that the FPD is involved in a scheming cover up of some lurid drug misadventure.

I worked at a group home and caught a resident using synthetic marijuana. That stuff seemed nasty. His speech became slurred, he couldn't walk right and was a huge mess. I can't believe that stuff hasn't been made illegal.

It initially boggled my mind that a millionaire couldn't pay someone to get regular non hallucinatory green that imposes at worst a health risk of falling asleep. Now that the additional info comes out about the NFL and Mass say nothing about it and therefore can be no penalty imposed I'm slightly less surprised.

Still, Chandler just got a shitty lesson in how much "risk" to tolerate.

Assuming it's what people usually mean by "synthetic marijuana" (cannabinoid analogs a la K2/Spice/etc), it's a Schedule I narcotic and illegal throughout the US.
There's a good video from vice on the substance. It amazes me that people smoke this stuff. It's typically made in labs in China and the different compounds are what are illegal. When one group of compounds are made illegal, they change the compounds making them technically legal.

I could be mistaken, but that's how I understand the process.

Damn, as soon as the "Synthetic Marijuana" reference came out, it is all over my Facebook feed.

Why is it even called "synthetic marijuana" when it is completely different chemicals sprayed onto an herb that isn't marijuana? Am I missing something? It's like calling LSD "synthetic psilocybin." It's not. It's a different chemical.

The news about it being legal in Foxboro answers my question about why he wasn't arrested.
Rovine is the guy on this, but I'm pretty sure it's not a crime to have used a controlled substance -- just to posses it or distribute it, etc. (Or, obviously, if you're doing something illegal after you used, like operate a motor vehicle.) In other words, once you've ingested it, it's no longer possession, and you cannot use the fact that someone appears to be impaired or has something in their blood to establish possession. (Though I think it can be probable cause to search them or their stuff.)

Also, earlier in the thread, there was a suggestion that there is some sort of amnesty designed to encourage people who are at risk of an overdose or bad reaction to seek help. Obviously, if your pocket is full of the stuff when you show up at the police station, it can be a problem. But the fact that Jones wasn't arrested doesn't necessarily answer the question whether or not he took something that is unlawful to posses.

Someone earlier in the thread mentioned there are Good Samaritan self reporting laws or some such thing that prevents arrest if a user presents with medical needs.

Edit: What Denny said

And Jones is listed with abdomen/toe. There's a rod Stewart-esque stomach pumping joke in there somewhere.

I mentioned Sheldon Richardson upthread...the police knew he was high as fuck but there was nothing in the car so no drug charges.

They are (theoretically) cannabinoids, made by artificial synthesis. In reality, they're almost certainly other things, too.

Synthetic marijuana?? It's amazing the crap people risk putting into their bodies. Why not try snorting a line of Drano?
